i used Frodocam previously and it is TS friendly. Only problem I experienced was very slow refresh rates. Directshow through explorer gives 25fps+ at 640x480 yet frodocam looked more like about 10fps (using a USB2.0 colour webcam with night vision)

Could direct show not be built into CF to allow display of cams natively.

a Centrafuse webcam plugin could easily be built with my SDK, which will be available after 1.5 is released...

for all the programmers out there here is the API...

    http://www.centrafuse.com/api

note: mainly check out the CFPlugin class... it is what will be used to create plugins...

    You n00bs!! Just kidding...
Nullsoft (Streaming|S as in Soft) Video will record from a web cam to a file. It is open sorce too so you should be able to write some code to embed it into CF.

And if you have your cell phone internet dialup working, then this software will stream your web cam via shoutcast to a winamp client.

    http://www.nullsoft.com/nsv/
    download the NVS tools... http://www.nullsoft.com/nsv/nsvtools-setup.exe

after you install, open NVS Live Capture > chose your web cam in the Devises drop down > then goto File > Set capture destination > pick "File". It will save it in NVS format that can be played back with Winamp
    ( www.winamp.com )

To stream your web cam you will need to down load the ShoutCast DNAS Server. You can run the server software from your home PC if you always have a way to know the ip address, i.e. the no-ip.com trick or static

I have not tryed this and there could be port issues streaming over a GPRS provider. shoutcast uses port 8000 and 8001 by default but can be adjusted.

let me know if you have questions and I will try to help.

now I am just going to have to go try this and see if I can get it to work while driving on the highway.

Tone: You probably have CF set to "Always on Top". You can't embed things with that enabled because then CF is on top of your embedded program.

David: Why is that the case? I can set SKINbedder to be fsOnTop and embedded apps still work. Since the application is embedded to the SKINbedder form, it shows up even though the SKINbedder form is on top. Are you really embedding apps, or are you just positioning them and removing the caption & frame? Also, when I embed Girder to CF, I lose the status-bar. I don't want to lose the Girder status bar. Is there anyway to fix that?

I do embed, not sure about the ontop problem... it doesn't happen with all programs... and I remove the title and status bar intentionally...

There is no reason to keep the title or the frame, but I would like to keep the status bar. There's a lot of important stuff there for many programs (just like the menu-bar and button-bar). Removing the status-bar (as well as the menu-bar and button-bar) should be optional (or just always on and people can use SKINbedder to remove it when they don't want it ).

BTW: How do you remove the status bar through the API? I've just been nudging it out in SKINbedder. I didn't know it was OS-drawn. Since it is, isn't the menu-bar OS drawn too (and possibly the various types of button bars)? Can you remove that through the API?
