Yes, X-Fi is the new soundcard by Creative. Here's a link:

    http://www.creative.com/products/pro...&product=14066

It comes with a significant piece of software that allows lots of enhancements. I don't know whether it's the soundcard or the software or a combination of the two, but it makes things much better for me.

Ok I was trying to track down some distortion on my Carputer setup at the weekend which was especially affecting bass frequencies an found that Centrafuse was causing it! The same track played in media player was fine but in CF 1.4 it distorted (and yes the sound levels were the same).

After some fidding I realised that the distortion only appeared when I used the mixer in CF, if I selected the default setting for the mixer (flat) the distortion vanished!

    Any ideas David?

I concur on this one (if using onboard via sound). However, in my setup (i'm using a soundblaster 24bit usb sound card), when you turn on "CMSS" in the soundblaster software it makes a WORLD of difference and CF sounds "cleaner" than stock Winamp (with basic EQ/preset changes in Winamp, and no processing/sound plugins).

I believe the CMSS setting is something that is in that X_Fi sound card's software as well. I went ahead and also set my CF eq presets to "Rock" because that most closely mirrors the music I listen to, and it sounds great as just mentioned.

David, would it be kosher to begin posting basic 1.5 findings for those of us that were bad boys and girls and sneaked the early preview? I feel bad about doing it, but *sniff* my curiosity and eagerness for your awesome software got the best of me .

That also reminds me, can we pre-order CF?

    I would also consider pre-ordering.

Does 1.5 improve the sound quality? It's the main reason I'm using RR over CF.

I have a big alpine system in my car... rta tuned pro stuff.... I just installed my maudio spdif toslink to my alpine processor.... played with some stuff through 1.5...... sounds awsome & as good as anything else I listen to...

I only had it for a few hours & haven't tried side by side comparisons yet to see if theres any diference, but sounds awsome so far...
