I use a lite version of XP. I have used nLITE for it. You should be right. What part of XP do you think is missing in my install.

    Complete Search

The new breakdown on the Search parameters is good, but sometimes, the ID3 tags are pretty messed up, perhaps a general search thru' all the breakdown (Artist/Song/Album) similar to the search in 1.3 and 1.4 be included for greater convenience. As such, I need not have to search thru all the parameters for these songs. Thanks.

David, i think one of reason that got me posting was your effort to reply to almost everyone's post.. Thanks for the quick reply.

    Connect/Disconnect button

The current setup only allows for Dial-up, wondering if it is possible to set it up to reflect Window's Networking connections i.e wireless or Eithernet LAN. Just a thought.

sympht, if you have an active wireless/lan connection it will auto detect and use that one.

I would like to see an easier way to get to hibernate right now I think you hit 4 buttons to get there. I don't know about anyone else but if I am doing a hard shutdown I just let my Opus handle it. The majority of the time though I use the hibernate feature. Perhaps if it was on the new drop down system I just don't know how many fat fingered people would complain about it being there though.

That's actually kind of misleading. Getting that to work will depend tremendously on your Windows Wireless configuration settings, and even then, there is no guarantee that your Carputer will connect to an 'open' and 'unsecured' wifi spot.

There are numerous posts talking about this in the forum, and different approaches have been discussed. I have yet to find ONE way to have the CarPC connect to open/unsecured wifi spots without *any* user interaction. Right now, I have it set up such that it tries connecting to any spot available, and a lot of the time it attempts secured networks which of course fails (but does not keep on trying the other available).

How is that misleading? He said he wanted it to reflect his windows connections, not actively scan and connect to open AP's. If he has his network listed in his network connections when he pulls in his driveway it will connect with no user input.

1 thing that could get pretty much what you want done is to google default connections for routers and just add all the default connection settings to your configuration settings, You are correct though that this will not keep you from hitting wep/wpa walls but I have found that a huge majority of people who keep ssid's stock also do not enable Wep/WPA. You could also check out wigle.net or wifimaps.com and create a custom list of known open AP's from the AP's listed on your typical route.

DoubleC: Sorry, you are correct. I misinterpreted what was being asked. Apologies!

Your suggestion is pretty close to what I am doing. It does tend to hit WEP APs pretty often though.

You guys are all a bunch of bandwidth thieves LOL.

I never really did get war-driving though. I suppose it is cool as long as you have a cell-phone or something to fall back on. I'm just not that interested in a "it works sometimes if I drive past the right place" type of internet solution.

Then again, I suppose it is perfect for GPS Secure uploads, weather downloads, and other sorts of periodic updates. Could I just get a USB-to-WiFi, stick it near my rear window, and have that working without too much hassle... or do you have to mount an external antenna to get it to work well?
