I like the menu button idea and i for one have been missing similar functionality since the first release of FrodoPlayer. Ive actually been working on a similar idea in RoadRunner, but its not a dropdown menu, more like a screen overlay that can be accessible from any screen.
One thing ,as far as ui design goes, ive been wondering is why dont you combine the fastforward and next track buttons? And only use 3 buttons for track navigation instead of 5 and get some space back at the bottom and or make the remaining buttons slightly bigger, or move the menu button to the bottom, i think it'll fit there if you remove those 2 buttons. That would give you some options for the top area also, maybe make the date bigger or make teh song title area bigger. End of the Night isnt a long song title, but seems to take up a nice chunk of the area for the title, so its probably safe to say more songs will either scroll or be cut off.

here is an rough quick and dirty idea of what im talking about.
I have no preference over combining the FF and Skip buttons, but I do like how the menu button is on the bottom. I think from a touchscreen stand-point it would be a lot easier to hit the button if it was at the bottom of the screen.

This is a very professional looking skin, I like it very much.

Also like the idea of the dropdown menu.

And why would you think CF doesn't need to look good in a catalogue?

    Way to go!

For the skinning, the best example I've seen was Neocar Media Center (NMC) by Netsuo.
It has the NSW (Neocar Skin Workshop) which is very easy to use and very flexible too.

    Check it out...

Sorry, I wasn't quite clear. I meant David should look at it and implement something similar.

Well, he 'could', not 'should' :d

I don't think it looks horrible and for the most part it is better than the flashy crooked lined skins before it.

However, as Justintime mentioned, the black is horrible for day time visibility. Currently I am using FP for various reasons. The only skin I will use is Frigors high contrast white day skin, and black night skin.

It makes a HUGE difference in daytime visibility having the black text on a white background. On the same note, it is blinding at night with just a white skin. As such, some sort of automated skin switching ability would be VERY helpful. The whole gamma thing is just a bandaid.

I should mention that I am not the most fond of the FP autoswitching as the sunsets at different times throughout the year forcing me to continually change the settings. I also don't think it is a good idea to require the GPS data to determine time of sunset unless you use some sort of port replicator and can get the data regardless of what GPS software you use. Maybe some online data can be downloaded every few months or updated when a connection is recieved as the weather plugin does? For all I know, your weather plugin could already contain that data.

However you do it, a night and day skin is the only way to go until newer daytime legible screens are more common.

    Keep up the good work!!

Just wanted to add that Daytime/sunrise can be calculated according to a fixed formula. there is VB code around for that. GammaControl uses a similar method I believe.

Installed the 1.5 today in the car everything is great but the huge CPU usage.. Its eating all the power of my c3 CPU and i have about the fastest 1,3 Ghz..

It might be the default skin that take a litte amount of proccessing?
When and "icon" is selected and clicked its highlighted.

And when u turn vol up/down the sound its quite after and everyting is lagging.

Gonna test some more tommorrow and tweak some.
Right now i just wanna use the 1,4 version.
But its has expired and so on

anyway i just love the configureable appz buttonz
And the sound is much better and more bass hehe

    over n out!

Any luck on this? I am liking what I see with CentraFuse, but no Sirius support is a showstopper for me.

    Thanks!
