I still think it was a trick ;-)
I've been using 1.5 ever since with only minimal problems and already filed another bug about it. I really like the GPS plugin.

RR for me. I ditched CF sometime before the whole charging money thing happened. Been much happier with RR. For some reason, I just don't feel that charging for software was really in the spirit of the carputer/modding community. Anyway, seems like those of you who use it are happy, so more power to you....

......Charging money? You sure you're talking about the same front end this thread is about?

CF is free for now during testing. Veetid has been pretty clear that it's a commercial product and that it'll be for pay in the future. I think the 2.0 release that we're all beta testing will be for sale.

On a totally unrelated topic. Veetid, I don't get your version numbering system. This is totally my opinion, but I expect it to be like this:
    - You have a 1.x product out there. You start working on 2.0
    - You release 2.0 as a alpha or beta to us.
    - You fix, you release 2.0.1 or 2.1 (or maybe we skip some internal releases so we don't see anything until 2.0.8 or 2.3)
    - When you're done you have somehting like 2.0.17 or 2.2 That's your released product. I keep forgeting 1.5/1.6 will be come 2.0

It's not a big deal, just different from what I'm used to. For fun here's a couple of other versioning strategies:
    - Autocad-style: You bump a single number. CF release 8, CF release 9, etc. No messing with major.minior.level version numbers.

    - Opensource-style: current version is 2.0.x, new version will be 2.2.x, the testing for 2.2.x happens with releases called 2.1.x? (even releases are stable, odd release are dev).

    - Marketing-style: You have 1.x in the market you decide a major upgrade (something like the SDK rewrite, etc) for your next release. So, you call it 2.0. The alphas/betas for 2.0 are named:
    - 2.0 build 1234, 2.0 build 1359, etc.
    OR
    -2.0r13, 2.0r15, etc.
    OR
    - 2.0 beta1, 2.0 beta2, 2.0 rc1 (release candidate 1), 2.0 rc2, etc.

I don't even know why I'm typing about this, just spewing I guess.

    ...or

1.5.x - alpha versions not released to public
1.6.0 - beta version released to testers
    2.0.0 - stable, release-ready version

    2002 Grand Am progress :
    [] - 80%
...complete setup, but still need to make the install cleaner

Right that, seems to be the current CF scheme. It doesn't feel right to me, I'm testing what will become a 2.0 product and it's labeled 1.x
In my mind (that doesn't make it right), versions are
    major.minor.level.build or major.minor.build
So, the first alpha or beta for the soon-to-be release 2.0 would be 2.0.x or something.
