    1.6 update

I am working hard on 1.6... I plan to have it ready for CES, so that only leaves me a couple of weeks at most...

XM has been fully integrated, support for Sirius will come shortly... The Radio and XM both fully work with the EQ, Visualizations, and support time shifting...

An OBDII plugin has been created and supports the scantool (ELM) device... Support for the AutoTap will come shortly...

A USB camera plugin has been created that supports all standard USB camera's and allows you to take snapshots to a predefined location in setup...

It will be released with the new skin and performance has been improved...

This pretty much leaves Phone, TV, and a Picture Viewer to be created, which will be released in 1.7... Then there will be no more additions to the application... I will 100% focus my time on optimization and stability at that point, which I have been doing anyway along the way while working on 1.6...

note: I almost forgot... I added support for Sonique visuals, so now there are real visualizations and not the simple ones I created I improved the tag reading code also, hopefully all unicode issues should be resolved...

Thanks for the update, David. Sounds great. How are the DSP issues going?

An OBDII plugin!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What all does it do? 60 ft/ 1/4 mile times? HP/Torque estimates?

    and of course stability

Where will you be at CES? I will be going this year and would love to come see your booth.

Edit: Sorry in my excitement I forgot to thank you for all your hard work. You've made a great program.

Sounds most excellent, thanks for the update.. =)

Just a note regarding the XM support (and you've probably already done this), but please verify that the XMPCR works properly after resuming from hibernation/suspend.

This was one of the main reasons why I didn't hibernate the system when I was using the XMPCR..

    Thanks again for the update.

This is like good and bad news at the same time. Of course I knew this would happen all the way... now we will have a 1.6 version which I can guarantee will not be usable INSIDE A CAR <put reason here> and hence not properly beta tested. You did promise to focus on fixing the issues, and not enhance. So what gives?

Sorry to poop your party David. For me it was time to move one 3 weeks ago, and that is what I did. And now I know it was the right thing to do.

Really wish you had heard what some of us had to say about your Beta Testing program dynamics. I hate to see such a fantastic piece of software with such talented developer, that will be in eternal development because of lack of proper development lifecycle management. You'll really have a hard time going commercial like this man.

    Good luck.

JIT, I have read many of your posts and have the utmost respect for your views, but I'm wondering what makes CF inoperable in the car. I have used it quite a bit and found it to be very car friendly. The only major issue I have is that the sound quality is not yet to the level of other front ends, which I think David is working to fix.

There are alot of problems with the itx systems and gpsissues that still need to be ironed out. If I recall correctly people with the 10000 board could not even run the software period. I don't know for sure cause I have a M-atx setup and have been using the 1.5 for a while but there are some serious issues with it. Freezing sticking ... I have switched to RR for the meantime which after I got used to is a very very solid proggy I must say.

I've been using RR for the past month also. As Guino says in his FAQs, it's not for the faint of heart. Though I like RR, the learning curve is high, I can't get album art to work properly with my directory structure, the search feature is not nearly as intuitive or powerful as CF, and moving buttons around is a huge PITA.

My Beta testing program is going exactly as I planned it too... sorry it doesn't live up to your standards, but there are reasons for the way the program is going... I have plenty of experience in this area... Switch frontends and don't use Centrafuse until it's stable enough for your or never... not a problem...

I am getting all the features I have requested by my distributors added to the application for demonstration purposes for car shows, which doesn't require stability... I have deadlines to meet for demo's that have to have the full range of features... once all the features have been added, the application will be made stable... I apologize if it isn't happening fast enough for you, but again, just go use another frontend....

My original plan was to not have a stable version until first quarter of 2006 and it's been that way for atleast 6 months and that deadline will be met...

note: I did plan to release a more stable version of 1.5 before adding features, but timeframes did not allow it because of CES... This is a Beta testing program and their are versions that will be more stable than others....
