Thread: Destinator annoyances

I realize that this may be a moot point when CF1.6 is released, but basically, Destinator is a POS! The rest of CF rocks; this is really a low point. Specifically, here's what's bugging me:

The mechanics of tracking the car on the road are fine, but it really doesn't route well at all. My first time out was a few days ago, and I asked it to route me from the shop that installed my system to my house. It was a simple four-blocks-over, two-blocks-down, onto-the-freeway route. Destinator took me on a random tour of most of the center of Barcelona, down an alley, and zig-zagging through all kinds of side streets. It always showed the car in the correct place, so it isn't an accuracy issue. Just screwy routing. Once on the freeway, it kept insisting that I exit so we could take the service road.

And then there's that @#$@#$ "Signal too low. Check antenna." in the chirpy voice. Between my house and office, there are mountains with five long tunnels. At least once, and sometimes twice in each one, I hear that message. I know. I'm in a tunnel. I don't need to check the antenna, thanks. But I can't turn it off! Even if I'm not using the GPS, there is that woman telling me to check my antenna every 30 seconds! Is there any way to stop that reminder? Between the tunnels and all the underground freeways we have here, I heard that reminder more than 30 times yesterday.

Finally POI. I've seen other people complaining about the lack of entries. In the center of Barcelona, I choose Restaurant, and get a choice of 12 gas stations and two hotels, miles away, that have no restaurant.

OK, I let off some steam. I know Destinator isn't David's fault. Do I have it configured wrong? Is there some "don't suck" menu option that I didn't find?
