There is no question songs are missing...
I can navigate to the songs via Library -> Music Paths and they play but say "Unknown Artist" ... I think this is the root of the problem...
I would try fixing the id3 tags of your mp3s.
Here is some free and great software to help do that.
http://www.id3-tagit.de/english/index.htm
I find the filename to id3 tag functions kick ***.
If want to be certain of your missing songs issue. Open command prompt and cd to your music path folder and type in "dir *.mp3 /s". That will give you the file count at the end of the command.

If they say Unknown Artist, it's a problem with your id3 tags. Download an id3 tagger and fix em, I just did all of mine with MusicBrains Tagger. It did like 80% of mine automatically and the other 20% I had to help it some, but it's the best I've seen.
As stated above:
"I opened the mp3 with tag & rename and also checked under the file properties in Windows and the Artist tag is there. "
When i play the song in Windows media player, the tag is fine also.
Any other ideas?

I dont know which tag version Centrafuse looks at/for. In ID3-tagit, there is an option to synch v1 and v2 id3 tags. I did my whole collection, mostly talk radio and audiobooks, with this option on and I dont have same problems as you any more.Originally Posted by buurin

Something like that. I only had about 30 files in the library when I started out. Mostly talk radio and audiobooks. It was easy to find them in the library since thats all I had. I learned that writing in id3 tags (v1 and v2) is a good thing.
Since then I've slowly been digitizing my cd collection.

I went into tag and rename and realzied my coldplay album only had v2 tags. so i copied the v2 over to v1 then from CF navigated to the coldplay album. it recognized the artist name.
i have yet to rebuild my index(becuase it takes 10+ minutes for my 5500+ songs) but i am pretty confident it will pick up the songs now.
so now i have to find a way to fill in all my mp3's which dont have the v1 tag. the registered version of tag and rename will do it

use The Godfather to do it. You can copy all id3 v2 to v1 with a couple of clicks.
Although CF should recognize any song with v2 tags
try it for yourself. remove the v1 tag. CF doenst like that.
