Did you look under the driver's seat?
Maybe I am missing a known bug but there are like 1000 songs mising from my library
Centrafuse detects 5274 songs... Windows media player detects 6424... Itunes, i think, detected the same as windows media player...
Whats the deal??
I took a peek at a song it failed to detect but windows media player did and i see nothing funny about the track.. no embedded album art(i dont think... i opened it up in windows media player and selected "view album art" as my visualization and no album art showed up)
What could be the reasons for centrafuse not detecting an mp3? Keep in mind I can play the song in Windows media player.
Thanks

Do you have some of the same songs in multiple locations? (Like a big collection on a removable driver, some on the local drive, etc....) Windows media will add them to it's database twice even if it's the same song.

and as for windows media player... if you have the same song twice in two locations, why wouldnt it add the song to the library twice?

Does the "part of a compliation" part of the id3 tag have any issues?
i noticed one album is listed as part of a compilation.

So if Centrafuse only detects/scans the 5,000 songs in the "main" library then at first glance it looks like it's missing those 1,000 songs.
Was just a thought and may not be the problem, but I was just throwing out different ideas to look at and troubleshoot with.

Well centrafuse is entirely missing songs and i have checked for duplicates... i noticed the issue because entire albums are missing.
and the missing songs(i havent found them all) but the ones i have seen are mp3s.

More info regarding the situation.. Things i have noticed
The album that made me realize i am missing songs is Coldplay's "X&Y" album contained in the folder -- h:\iTunes Music\Coldplay\X&Y\
I thought maybe the folder name(containing a &) messed up centrafuse... so i changed the folder name(to "X and Y" and rebuilt the library.. No luck
So perhaps the & in the ID3 tag? I did not change this yet...
I went into CF -> Media -> Library -> Music Paths, and navigated straight to the albums folder and loaded the album.. the album played however it did not recognize the artist name. It displays "Unknown Artist - Song name"
I opened the mp3 with tag & rename and also checked under the file properties in Windows and the Artist tag is there.
Any other ideas? Is changing the ID3 tag's album name even worth trying?
