I keep getting a strange error in the dropdown menu.. it adds the "main" button on the top, under the MENU laber, and if I click on it it launches the application right below.. alreday posted on another thread but no response so far
Drop-down
Static
I really didn't expect the drop down menu to have so much support. I must say though, after using for it fews days, it's not that bad. I'd still rather have a static menu at least be possible, but I can live with what I have for now.

this is a bug and will be fixed... It gets messed up when you change your button layout... If you set the first one back to MAIN and dont' put it anywhere else on the dropdown, it should fix it...Originally Posted by Frankino

Wow, interesting. Seems like dropdown menu is winning.
Wanted to add that I absolutelty agree on the benefit of having the larger buttons, as a result of having the dropdown menu. A must have, and so much better than any other version.
Not crazy about having to perform more clicks, as required by the dropdown, but I do understand why it was done, and I agree it was important. I think that if at least there was a way to switch back and forth between GPS/Media then it wouldn't be a problem to have to use the dropdown menu for everything else.
Maybe a crazy idea, but how about if pressing the menu button for more than 1 sec takes you to the previously used section? I have a utility on my Palm Pilot that does exactly that, and I find it very useful, because it lets you switch back and forth between your two most used apps/screens. I still think there has to be a better way, I'll see if I can think of something.
Oh, by the way, I do absolutely believe the option for static menu should be part of the CF engine. This would allow other skinners to do their own thing, and not having to be stuck with designing their whole interface around this 'limitation'.
Hope this helps.

after using the software for a few days i really like the dropdown menu. we all know how to fabricate...if you want some buttons that are perminate then you should try to make some tactile buttons like oem. i can help you with the design, i have a project in the works for a different type of control but the design could be used for this purpose too. give me a few more weeks and i'll hopefully have a finished proof of concept.

Man, I'm surprized drop-down is winning. I guess I'm going to have to give it a shot(I'm finally back from China but haven't installed 1.6 yet)
Per JITs request: I would like to see an always on compass and/or speedometer like in some RR skins. Clicking that could take you strait to GPS. The song title should also always show somewhere, and clicking that could take you to media.
Hi,
I didn't want to judge too early, so I tested everything for some days. I don't like it, but it's ok. It defently makes things more complicated and takes something special about CF away, but I see that there is no other way.
I would love to see more hotkeys. Something like a "switch to last mode", so I can go to media and then nav by menu. After that I'd only have to hit a key on my steeringwheel remote to switch between these two. Would make things MUCH more easy for me.
after using this for a few days i have realized that i think having the drop down menu on a timer would be nice feature. there have been a few times i've hit the drop down by accident and would like to have had it scroll back up automatically after a few seconds.

That's the way it works now. At least for me.Originally Posted by scott_fx
Incidentally, the menu is not 'rolling' down and up. It's just an illusion. It only overlays the full menu image, in one full frame. No animations whatsoever. But I like it that way.
