ok i dont have the option: i dont care :P

i think CF 1.6+ should support both not one or the other i personally quite like the dropdown but i also see the positive side in having a static menu.

(offtopic: i don't really think the tone of you're first sentence is fair to david although he could just clear up if its possibile in the 1.6 or not)

It's not possible in 1.6 to make the menu static... We needed the real estate to add all the buttons on the various screens in a large enough size. Major companies we used for user testing unanomously agreed that in 1.5 the buttons were WAY to small for functional use in the car. This problem has pretty much been resolved in 1.6, which was the point... We doubled most button sizes.

Also hardware vendors will be implementing hardware buttons for the major sections, essentially the static left nav with hardware button like OEM's use, in the near future.

I loved the static nav too and wish it could stay and in the future might try to make it possible for someone else to make a skin that can work like 1.5 did.

note: so far drop down is even winning...

The drop down is fine by me, though I don't much care for its current color in relation to the rest of the skin.

I kinda like the dropdown... otherwise with those buttons on screen, it will be even more cluttered. =P

This way it kind of tucks them away until needed... and with the single click gone, its like you have to double click everything now anyways (That I wish would come back.. single click that is)

I liked single click as well. The media player will be single click, it was suppose to be in this version. The main two sections that are a problem are the file browser and the media manager. This is because the logic is based on highlighting something and clicking a button to perform an action on the selected item.

In windows you have right click and a context menu, which isn't safe in a car. Previously I just made it remeber the previous selection as it instantly went into the next screen. During user testing with non technical users, not a single one understood it and it completly confused people... So I took single click out until I can come up with a better solution...

Since u had to mention it...

frankly, i dont give a **** what u think about my tone.

Im sure David though knows that were discussing product here, nothing personal. Were all trying to make his product better, because we all need it in our cars. and we all want it to be best product out there (otherwise we wouldnt be using it). Sure all our opinions are somewhat biased. We all care about how it will fit on our particular car used by number one.

If u can honestly say that u put community in front of u self, well then HALLELUJAH, we have new christ here... feel free to turn other cheek
