Pressing and holding a hardware button and pressing and holding a software button are entirely different because you can feel a hardware button... Its quite apparent to me that you guys do not actually use the FF/RW regularly.

Not to mention it takes a second to kick into rewind mode so if you have to rw/ff a couple times in a row its really akward.
maybe something is wrong with your screen? i have no problems dragin or droping, or clicking and holding. Or maybe (im not sure how other touch there screens) but i use the tip of my fingernail to click items (more accurate than a thick finger).

Maybe if there were a track slider that would solve your problem, thats what i use in RR to fastforware and rewind and u dont have to click and hold if you dont want to.

as for the bottom row of buttons in CF, i dont use CF (firstly) but ui design is and functions are what im into. I think the bottom row has too many buttons going on. Although you combined and reduced the number of play buttons, the benifit of this should have been to make the remaining play buttons bigger.

i dont use voice and those that dont obviously will never use that button, and im willing to bet that there are more people who do not use voice than those that do.
i would make that button optional.

i would remove the random button, i think most people would use that while inside the media manager.

i would also remove the gamma dim button, seeing as this button will only be useful at one time of the day, when its dark. So its rarely used relative to the other buttons. So i would stick it somewhere else. Or use other methods to dim the screen, like something based on GPS or a timer. Set it and forget it, it shouldnt be something u have to constantly click or turn on daily.

Im a big fan of dual purpose buttons, or things that at first dont seem like a button but make a whole lot of since later. For instance...

i would also remove the mute button, well not remove it but make the "Centrafuse" logo in the middle of the screen the mute button.
Usually when you want to mute something, you want to mute it quickly and the quickest and easiest spot on the screen to click is right smack in the middle. Perfect spot for the mute function. Maybe the logo can change a different color to show the state of mute or unmute.

i like how clicking the track name goes to the library, you can expand this a little more by removing the visu button on the bottom and makeing the area where the time and clock are at toggle the visu.

so this leaves you with the 3 play buttons, 2 volume buttons, the X button on the far right and an optional voice mute button.
A lot better than the 11 buttons u start out with. That area down there is tooooo crowded.

although i dont use CF, i hope you take these comments into consideration.

My take: Voice and Gamma buttons can go, I never use 'em.
FF and RW are great as they are, I almost never use them and really don't see the difference. I almost always leave my music on random, so that one can go too. I do like the new exit button though. I also like the idaea of a configurable button for GPS or whatever. And I agree the space gained from removing/combining buttons should be used to make the remaining buttons bigger not add more buttons.

It makes it easier for you when mean to hold it but your fingers slips.. Currently if your finger slips/bounces off the screen the song will skip. also the delay really makes ff/rw annoying.

I have an even stronger argument now.. The way it currently is setup you cannot FF/RW via an infrared remote due to the fact you cannot hold a button down via IR. That alone is reason enough to AT LEAST add the functionality of FF/RW bound to a hotkey.

A slider isnt bad.. I'd have to try it in car to really get a feel for it.. My main concern is that the actual slider progress button would have to be of considerable size.

Great feedback, Liquid Smoke. Some really good points...even if you don't run CF, we really appreciate the input. I definitely like the idea of giving more space to existing buttons and reducing the number, where we can. I really like the idea of making the logo a button! I don't know why I hadn't thought of that! I also really like the vis control moving to a hold-down alternate on the album art button in the Media Player. That makes a lot of sense.

I think all in all, Buurin, you have to weigh the overall value of the gain in usability for adding independent rw/ff buttons with the ability to either add functionality and/or make more critical buttons bigger and easier to hit. If we made those three play controls twice as wide, you probably would have a much easier time of staying on them, right? I completely see your point, and you're right...it would be better to have independent controls for rw/ff, but you have to sacrifice so much that it doesn't seem efficient or worth it.

This is a great UI thread! Thanks so much for your input and ideas...don't stop.

What about a slider something like what I added? Making the Shuffle text a acutal button was what I was going to say but they beat me.

i think a good spot for a slider on that screenshot would be from where it says "mediaplayer" to right before it says "MP3 Random". You can remove the "mediaplayer" text and put a slider there. You dont really need to label each screen as to what the function of that screen is, you knew what it was before you got to the screen cuz the button on the previous screens label.

or raise everything barely up and have the slider right there but basicly we need one. I know where a part is in a song and I want to just once touch skip and not have to hold the button down. This really is needed for movies also. So maybe 1.6b will have it david? Should be a really easy think to add.
