there is a startup commands config in the settings, it can load any .exe from what I've tried so far...
I would like to run centrafuse as the system shell to improve boot time etc.. I tried this with CF1.5 and it worked fine, but didnt load crucial bits like the powermate... How do i get these to load when CF loads without using explorer.exe? Thanks,
If the powermate has a program in your windows startup menu you may have to have CF load it. I have not tried it out but i noticed that there is a startup commands option in cf setup, perhapes you can have cf load the app.
alternitively if that does not work, you can try running carshell as your shell. It will load anything in the windows startup folder (includeing cf) automaticly and has a very small footprint/loadtime.
my biggest problem with running it as a shell is what happens one mourning when you startup & get a licencing pop-up.. licence expired.....
there should be a button on the existing licence screen to reboot & revert back to explorer.exe at least.... or your looking at hasles there... that's one reson I'm afraid to run it as shell..... when the licence is purchased & permanent then it'll be safer....
just had a look and yeah, its a startup folder shortcut, so ill try getting centrafuse to load it... windows still goes through its normal startup scripts as well though right?
About getting back to explorer, i just quit centrafuse and use ctrl alt del to run explorer.exe and it all comes back so you can change it all back/put new .lic file in or whatever!
File/New Task and type explorerOriginally Posted by turbocad6
If your running cf as the shell you can run any additional programs as a scheduled task in the control plan. Thats how i do my PVR just make sure you set it to proform the task when the computer starts or when you logon, then go to the advanced property's when done createing it and on the setting tab uncheck "stop the task if it run for more than X" so that it wont stop and your good to go.
And as for getting to the explorer you can either control alt del, run new task explorer.exe or if you create a second windows (make sure it has admin permissions) just do log off and log on as the second user with out shell
I think alternatively, you can create a batch script (or AutoIt) that launches all the things you want (whether they are exe files or not), and then simply put that autoit.exe file on the startup apps commands of CF...
