I use this method with CoPilot which can't be embedded into any application
Instead of a remote thought I use the AltTabber application to switch between GPS and CF through touching the top of the screen
Since iGuidance has issues in 1.6 I made a simple workaround. Ultimately I launch iGuidance outside of CF.
I am using Girder and an IR remote control. I bound one remote control button to launching iGuidance(via a .bat file, see below) and another remote control button to switching apps(alt-tab type functionalty -- feature of Girder). I use the app-switch to toggle back and forth between IG and CF.. When in IG I can still use my remote to skip songs etc in CF w/o switching over to CF.
The reason I used a .bat file to launch iGuidance was that I was sick of the warning that pops up when it launches. The batch files overwrite the ShowWarning registry key and then launches IG w/o the warning popping up. The reason I need to rewrite the reg key every time it launches is for whatever reason IG overwrites the registry key upon closure of the app
the batch file looks something like this (this may not be exact)
-------------------------------
reg add HKCU\Software\iNav\iGuidance /v ShowWarning /d 0 /f
start /D"c:\program files\iNav\iGuidance\" iGuidance.exe /b

I use iGSkinner (outdated, I know, but it works for me) and haven't had a problem embedding in CF 1.6.
Could you please post your .ini settings. I'm trying to use iGSkinner as a quick fix and am having trouble getting it perfect.Originally Posted by Mbai2

Yeah I can do that too no problem... now try to use the menus... you click something, the window goes away and CF takes focus! lol

I found that the settings were different for each computer. I tweaked the settings on my laptop but when I transferred the numbers over to my car, it was all wrong. I guess the only thing you can do is sit there and play with it in your car until you get it right.Originally Posted by jhanson999
All you need to do is the following:
Open regedit and drill down to: HKCU\Software\iNav\iGuidance regdword:ShowWarning
select "edit --> permissions.."
Click Advanced and apply the following permission to your logged on user:
Deny "set value"
Thats it, no more warning box and it won't reset itself.
A word of caution: if you make this permission change no user settings after this point will be saved in the application. Of course you can always give yourself access again.
**Update**
This appears to be working great. However I just realized the effect of the permission setting. I needed to change my com port for the GPS in iGuidance and couldn't until I gave myself permission again. No big deal since now I have it setup the way I need it so I just reapplied the permission.
Hello,
I have CF 1.6 running, but have only tried to embedd iguidance on my home PC to figure it out then try it on my carputer which is ready to be installed. I have no knowledge of these other applications and how they help. I have heard of skinbedder and others. Should I be familiarizing myself with another app like skinbedder or IGmod to learn how to do this sort of thing. I am new to all of this and have been learning as I go, so any advice would be appreciated.
Best regards,
Marc
That must be the most useful 2nd post anyone has ever submitted... Isnt you're 2nd post supposed to be something along the lines of "I used the search but didnt find anything" (1st post: "how do I power my carp00ter?")Originally Posted by sickboy
