Is it a standalone Bootable OS or is it an ordernary application running on Win xp. i would liek to get my hands on that one^
Normal BT dongles give a PC access to bluetooth. The parrot BT gives the PC access to the phone book, and call features.

As long as the USB dongle supports the handsfree/headset profile(HFP/HSP), syncML, and OBEX then it can do everything this parrot module can do if someone would just write the software for it. For minimal call notification, answer, hang up, and voice functions, all that is needed in the dongle is the HFP/HSP. This minimal functionality would work with virtually any bluetooth phone that supports the use of a bluetooth headset. So far, no one wants to invest in a bluetooth SDK to write such a thing even though it would be a godsend.

    Folks,
not sure why this treat gets so long discussing what is better or not - what my research ends up with is that this module simply uses SAP (SIM Access Profile) to communicate with a SAP-compatible phone.
Means this module gets full control of your mobile phone via SAP. It "ows" the SIM Card and reads the phonebook, plus some other features, but not worth to mention currently.

As mobile-phones, no matter if they are old or new ones or if it is Smartphone or Windows Mobile. As long as the manufactorer supports SAP you will be able to use your phone very easy.

Is it better than PhoCo ?

Yes and No. I don't want to say anything negative about the developers work around PhoCo, but in some degree, I will call myself an IT specialist, but PhoCo beats me. S55 was the only mobile phone I was able to use PhoCo with. But S55 is really old school compared to my Wizard II device and the things I need to cover my daily business. So before spending again weeks geeting one of my Smartphones run with PhoCo, I'll look ahead what's an alternative to complete my Carputer Project.

Will PhoCo still remain an alternative for me ?

Yes, if I had two wishes:
    - The Parrot Module needs a USB connector
    - Make PhoCo compatible to the Parrot device

This is my first post to any carputer forum, so do not treat me to hard, when you read that

PS: If anyone out there got PhoCo to work with HTC Wizard/Qtek9100/HTC Blueangel/Qtek9090 please drop me an e-mail please !

    I did

Try it with the latest version included in CF then send me the logfiles (WizardLog.txt, PhoneCtlLog.txt and the PhoCoAdapter.log)

BTW: The Qtek 9090 is know to be buggy with the Bluetooth connection. It'll drop the connection every now and then.

I did too ( MDA Vario / Wizard ) ... its all about the port set up and the use of the PPC client ( and the right BT stack ) .... all on Zorros forum.

Once you've done it once you'll never forget about it.

So shame on me, but as this is out of scope of this thread, I'll just post the result later on

    Hi David,

Will you be offering this Parrot module for CentraFuse in the future? I would love that, I've been using the Parrot CK3100 carkit, it was working really fine.

Now I've sold my carradio and carkit and building/testing my CarPC, but getting my HP HW6515 to work with Phoco/CentraFuse is not quite easy.
I will continue trying this week......
