Epia M and video display

Hello,

let me start by telling you what a great frontend cf is: It is great

however, I've run into some problems. Here's my situation. I've hooked up a touchscreen tft to the vga out and my tv to the tv-out of the epia. If I'm playing video (divx/xvid/all tastes..) in windows using vlc it will display the video on both screens (tv and lcd), but playing back the video in CF, I'll get a black screen on the lcd (where the video is supposed to be displayed) and a perfectly fine display on the tv. this is really annoying. I've already searched through the forums and found out this issue is related to the drawing method of the programm. VLC uses GDI which will be displayed on both, while CF uses some kind of overlay. Is there a workaraound or possible fix in 1.7?

If you want to get your video playing with out the black screen you will have to extend your desktop to that display and tell CF to display on that monitor. Of course video will only play on one monitor and outside of the video it will be the desktop. I know its problably not what you wanted to do but I havn't found a work around to play video on both screens...

David should make it work so that u could load your own .GRF file to handle A/V... then there would be pretty much no limits.

yeah, I tried to do that, unfortunately the epia driver doesn't allow you to do so, it only mirrors the VGA-out to the TV-out instead of extending the desktop to the tv-out, (so no dual-head as my nvidia card in my desktop does...)

yes, that would be nice, or atleast do it the meedio way. let the user choose what "action" should happen if you select to play a video. you could for example pass the filename to vlc or zoomplayer and play it in that player,.. oh if only...

I know in another thread not too long ago david did say he will give more options for dual screens. Allowing plugins to be loaded into different screens, something we will have to wait till after 1.8 saddly. Hope is not gone though for us with more then one screen.

I am looking at installing a third monitor here soon. So I am hoping that he will at some point look past two monitors and look at multi-monitor setups. So customizing the information on a bunch of displays will be possible.

I do plan to add more support... You can use 3 monitors now if you have them... It's not just dual monitor support... Yes you are limited as to what you can send to the other screens, but not which screens... You could send video to one screen, visuals to another, dvd to another, and still have your main screen with 4 monitors... if you computer could handle it...

Its directshow filtergraph file... it determines how playing is done in detail level... most of (post vfw) windows programs use it under the hood... Only program im aware which eats userdefined filtergraphs is zoomplayer (and only after conversion and not with total freedom).

This made me experient for my hometheatre... and i ended up coding extremely simple player, which i call "WINning player", which loads user made graphs and plays accordingly... Its is unbelivable versatile but requires know how about making graphs with graphedit from users part.

I still could not get it to work. david, in your signature you state that you are using the same mobo, (epia m 10k) so I think you should be able to reproduce this bug. Is there anything planned to at least work around the issue?
