After testing the display AngryMan sent me does properly work under LCDCenter, but nothing else...

non of the test applications from the wiriing pages you sent midiwall nor does LCD Smartie...

If I init the display with LCDCenter, then kill it and load LCD Smartie it does send data, but it's garbage...

I kind find much information about LCDCenter, but they are doing something different than others I need to figure out...

I might convert VFD to a plugin and include it in the SDK download so it becomes open source and more dispaly types and a fix for could be implemented...

Either way I'm trying... If I can get the write settings or somehow get it to with with LCD Smartie or any other program that has something to look at or specs on how it works then I can implement...

I want the VFD to work for everyone of course

Getting somewhere, I appreciate the test unit AngryMan!

go to VFD in settings, click on the modify output, add a row and column, then you will see a list of actions you can add...

there is a lot of data to choose from, everything from song information, date, time, OBDII, GPS

I am still just trying to find the difference between these working and non-working units, it's driving me crazy...

My code still properly init's the non-working device I have, better than LCD Smartie, but neither program will output to them...

Wish I could have me a look at the LCD Center code, it appears to be doing something different then everyone...

It's not the wiring... I just found the specs and my old thread when I wired my first VFD/LCD and it was the following:

    http://www.markuszehnder.ch/projects...allel_8bit.gif

which is the same as the unit AngryMan sent me...

The chips are different on most, two of mine that are working have DV20200 HD44780 chips, the other two that work I can't read...

Not sure what chip AngryMan's unit has, but it will only work in one program, LCDCenter, nothing else...

Anyone with .NET and VFD/LCD experience and with a broken display interested in looking at the class I use to output to the VFD PM me, it's very small and inpout32.dll does all the work really...

Like I said I tried going back to using Port 95/NT driver that LCD Center uses and it gave same results...

Centrafuse does init the screen and clear it, it just doesn't get data so either the data write or set position methods are not working with some chips...

The fact that LCD Smartie doesn't work with it either is what bothers me, that program works with just about everything...

Hey David, finally getting back to you on this.
I see you found lcdcenter and were at least able to see my lcd works
what do you think of my wiring job? pretty clean cept for those extra wires. I didnt clip those off because I wasnt sure if I might want to use those for something else. (or in case I screwed it up. heh.)

I did have it working occasionally with lcd smartie. usually the output was 'noisy' and garbled, and the program crashed a lot on me.

the results I got with the LCD I sent you and my blue one are identical. Ill hook up my blue one and check it out, see if I cant get lcdsmartie working with it again.
