    I have no working buttons...

Yikes. I just loaded CF onto my desktop for a trial run. The install worked fine, and the first time it ran I was asked to go through setup. All looked fine here until I completed the setup.

It brought me to the main CF menu, but there was no text in any of them, and clicking them does nothing. The drop down menu is also empty. I can click the exit button, and CF will exit normally, but I notice when I open it up again, it makes me go through the setup all over again.

    Anyone else seen this issue?

PS - the good news is that I set up PhoneControl during the setup phase, and even though I cant go anywhere in CF, it picked up the incoming call on my cell phone.

I have had that problem a couple of times too. It seems like sometimes a reboot fixes it, sometimes it needs a wipe and reinstall. Also, sometimes the Destinator does not load at all. Have you seen this problem as well?

check to see what your error.log file says after you load and you see no text...

    email it to support...

Also if it makes you go through support everytime, then it is failing loading your config.xml file, or one of the xml files in the System folder... Drag those into a browser and see which one is invalid and open in Notepad and fix it...

If you find which one caused the problem let me know, because everything is suppose to be Encoded so that it properly saves in the XML files...

have the same problem, and a similar error.log.

Have no idea how to set up pre/post commands so cant be that. Never been running CF before. Just installed it, and started it.

    Hi David,

Not sure what you mean by pre/post commands. I just installed the software, rebooted, and ran CF. I don't think I am smart enough to add pre/post commands.

I am also getting the same issue. I'm installing onto a Win2k machine if that makes any difference.

TinyXP caused me no end of trouble, to save a few seconds at boot up... So I upgraded it to Full XP Pro, much easier than ****ing about with it to make things work

I also found that any errors in the External & IIRC Config XML files in the System directory will cause buttons to go blank.

Sometimes trying to add external apps in CF1.7 it doesn't let you add a path and windowname and when you exit CF the XML file was messed up.

I manually editted it to what it should be like and all the buttons returned.
And use IE to check they are formatted correctly.

Easy fix if you don't mind a bit of digging.

There has also been known to be issues on machines that haven't been correctly setup to parse XML files. Haven't got the link here at work but there is a file on MSDN that fixes the issue. Search MS site for XML, thats how I found it
