    Australian Destinator maps supported?

    Im using the following maps

    Australia
    Version 2005.Q2.3446

They seem to work fine apart from the fact that I cant search for city? I can search for city when I use the default New York or Berlin maps but when I switch to Australia I can only search by street and city is left blank. This means I cant route anything at all at the moment.

They work fine in FreeDrive and MapMonkey.

Sorry for the n00b question. A bit more reading has made me realise that the old destinator maps just dont work with 1.7. That really sucks as CF is the only frontend that I find acceptable for use and now the GPS is useless. Guess I wont be installing my CarPC until CF is finished.

    Roll on CF final release.

Sounds like these are Destinator PN maps and you need either Destinator 6 / 2006, or Destinator ND maps. I've got Destinator 2006 EU for my PDA which comes with Q1,2006 Maps and these work fine

I'm getting a little confused myself now as to what all these different versions of Dest are, I think D6 is D2006

Be warned though, that CF1.7 RC1 WILL stop programs like Freedrive, GaroNav & Map monkey from functioning as the Dest.dll files are different and will not co-exits on the same PC, and if you re-register the DLL file with regsrv32 it stops CF1.7's nav from working.

Yeah it kinda sucks. I purchaced all the hardware for my CarPC without first evaluating the software. After trying all the frontend options CF is the only one Id even consider using. But having no GPS is a big let down. 2006 destinator maps dont even exist for Australia yet.

Kinda annoyed cause I have all this hardware sitting around and cant install it now.

You can disable to built in Nav by removing the button for it, and re-registering the D3 Dest.dll file and then use Freedrive/GaroNav/Mapmonkey instead. Just re-installing MM should fix it.

PM me if you are stuck.

Yeah that is what I am doing at the moment but it is far from perfect and sorta kills the whole OEM look.

Try making your own FD skin to match CF.

Man it just sucks so hard David giving us a tease of what future versions of CF will be like with the fully integrated GPS into the UI using the 2006 Destinator maps. I thought all my Xmas's had come at once until I went to input an address and realised I cant because Im using older maps.

How am I supposed to go back to cruddy old embedded Map Monkey now? Grrrr.

Sorry ShawJohn, I think you misunderstood. I'm not having any problems getting either method to work, I just reregister the relevent destinator dll. Im just whinging (I'm not even British...weird) because the CF integrated nav is so sweet but I cant use it because of incompatible maps and embedding map monkey technically works but is a bit of a let down after using CF's nav functionality.
