Startup Time VS 1.6 - UPDATED

Does anyone else have the same issue as me, the new CF takes at least two mins to load, the old CF while no rocket would be open by the time i leave my estate, now im at work before CF is open,

Have reimaged pc and performed full reinstall, CF also takes that long to close that Hibernate fails as the Opus cuts power first.

Haven't timed mine but I thought it was slow too at around 30seconds on an SP13000 with 512Mb Ram.

Sounds like something wrong on yours.

I also notice that when the outside temp is above 26 degrees C that my PC's CPU runs at between 55 & 80 degrees C, and once it passes 75 is pretty useless and unresoponsive - I wonder why Impending melt down maybe!!!

Just keep an eye on the temps if its behaving erratically

I do not have these problems... Are you running PhoneControl? This does add to the startup time...

Yeah i am running Phonecontrol, but i would say its slow during all the startup process's such as building controls or initialising the Audio etc, it could sit more than 30seconds on some of those stages esp the plugins.

I had no problems with 1.6 at all, Phonecontrol was launching with that also,
any suggestions as to speed up CF. Windows is responsive as ever and the isntall is clean as can be, no extra apps at all, just CF and its necessary files and updates etc.

I have reinstalled Windows XP Twice now and no luck, hopefully i can get this resolved, the fact that CF1.7 has the new D6 Engine is the killer factor for me and what is keeping me using CF despite this problem

    Sore subject.

Did have, fooked install and had a Damaged, but legit XP Install disk and number, so borrowed a friends copy of XP and used my number, tried to install it, it worked, but then it tells me on WGA & SP2 install that my key is invalid and won't let me update the system

Other thing that ****ed me off is that I can't find the recceipt for it so M$ will not provide me with a working key

Fooked if Im going to pay for it again So unless someone has some tips Im stuck with it not even having SP1 on it.

Shawjohn, you can download SP1a from Microsoft.com without performing any validation, if your key is legit then i would download the Windows Genuine Advantage and Windows Validation Removal Tools found in the usual place, that would allow you to use Windows Update Again,

Well Reinstalled again, i have an XP PRO Volume Licensce CD without the SP's . I downloaded and installed SP1a only and the .Net Framework. That is all i have installed on my pc at this time, this is definitly faster than SP2 installed on my PC, also no more annoying Security Popups for Everything

I am going to continue testing but it looks like not installing SP2 may have resolved the issue, i probally won't install most of the updates as there not necessary for a Carpc and it would be to time consuming to Identify the update / SP which is causing the performace issues. Veetid maybe you should look into this, there seems to be quite a few users with the same issue, the performace is a big part of this as well. Why pay for CF if its slow comapred to Roadrunner which is quickly catching up on the Features of CF.

Does anyone Run an AV Solution on there carpc. I was running Symantec Corporate but it kills performance quicker than Jack the Ripper in a London Alley. Or do you guys think its even necessary.
