David: I meant to say thank you for this. It is definitely not a priority and we are happy to have it on your list at all, even on the bottom (just please don't forget about it). We greatly appreciate your adding it even if you don't think it is a good idea.

...just for the sake of discussion though (I am bored and looking for things to post ), why do you hate the idea of a slider in the car? Personally I would never "use" a slider or FF/REW, I am just a proponent of the slider because:
    a) It looks cool.
    b) I like it as an indicator of track position so much more than time counting up or down in the corner (even with "/[total-track-time]" which is missing from CF).
    c) I personally hate the idea of holding down an FF/REW button in the car. If a song starts playing and I know I want to skip to the middle of it, single clicking the middle of a progress bar is a lot easier than holding down an FF button for 15 seconds while trying to drive your car.

Take a look at Freeway, it got implemented just yesterday and it is rather neat.

Some video files don't react very kindly to a slider skip. I have a few music videos that lock up on windows media player when you skip around on the song and it just messes everything up. I'd hate to have that happen while driving.

Most of time it happens is because your file is not good..it should be corrupted...It was the case fo me when it happened.

What's your point? If it locks up with a slider it would lock up with FF/REW too. Besides, as the post above said, if it locks up when you try to seek, it is because there is a problem with the file.

    To the two above:

FF/RW don't seem to do it as often as the slider. So that's just something I noticed. And yes, I do know that the file is either corrupted or improperly encoded. I notice it happens most with earlier divX files. Just an observation that I've made.

oh and personally, I am in the pro-slider camp.
