How does the CD and USB importing work?

I am confused as to what should happen when I click the CD or USB icon. I assume it loads the music off of either drive, and then is able to play it. If that is the case, why does it need to load it at all? Is there any faster way of making it work?

I hate refering to other front ends, but in frodoplayer when I click CD, the media takes a second or two to appear and i can then click on any song I want. Granted, it may not be ID3 tags or anything, but the filenames are good enough for me (if that is the reason for the long loading times)

In my case, using DVD data discs, CF is loading (and not playing ANY music) for nearly 2 minutes! I just cannot imagine this is the best way of doing it. That is if I am understanding it correctly and something isn't screwed up on my end.

That is Centrafuse reading all the tag information from the disc, then populating the list, then starting to play...

It is usually fast enough on a CD or small USB stick, but it can take a little time if you have a large USB device or hard drive, or use a DVD...

I guess something could be done to start playing and then populate the tag information as you are listening, but as is now it reads the files before it plays them...

Is there a way to create an option to not read the tag info and only read the file names or something? I do like the idea of it playing while loading, allthough I would still like to not see the loading screen for more than a few seconds, if at all.

Also, once I load the CD it should retain the tag info, correct? Even if it hibernates and what not it shouldn't lose that info? What about if I eject the CD and reinsert it? Will it have to reload? I ask because currently it reloads it each time I click CD and confuses itself with a USB device (as it is a CD drive on a USB converter). It also loses that info after it comes out of hibernation. I wasn't sure if you caught me mentioning that issue before.

I will look into improving this some how...

Atleast have an option that says whether to read tag information on USB/CD devices or not...

I will look into not using WMI to determine available CDRoms because it appears to not work properly...

That would be awesome.. I actually avoid plugging in my H10 now because of CF trying to read all the contents before letting me do anything.

I have a music path set up for it which suits me just fine.
