Hey guys... I've been in the carpc scene for a few years now. I've gotten my feet wet a few times, but never actually finished my project due to financial etc...
Now the time has come, and I have the opportunity to finish my carpc at last! The last piece of
hardware i will be getting is a touchscreen LCD. I'm gonna go with a motorized flipout.
Before I take the plunge, I want to get the
software side of things setup first. Right now, I have a 1GB highspeed CF card I will be booting from. I'm in the process of finding the "perfect" nLite settings to get everything running smoothly, and to have everything fit onto the CF card WITH hibernation..
Then I will impliment HORM, EWF, minlogon, etc.
Centrafuse seems to be the most polished frontend application available for free. I'm interested in using it as my front end, but have a few questions.
1) It looks like centrafuse is about to become commercial. If I setup everything now, will this "trial" expire? Will we have to pay for it in the future?
2) Is there a "quickstart" or "complete beginners/idiots" guide to setup centrafuse? Like what other applications are required (Dvd decoders,
iGuidance software, etc)
3) Is there a proven list of things to NOT remove from nLite to make everything work correctly?
4) Which GPS software is the most popular? I still have a copy of Map Monkey + Destinator3 from waaaay back in the day, but it looks like iGuidance 3 has become the most popular GPS solution.
Thanks for any help or information guys!
I hope to have this stuff setup very soon!
