I'm generally oppsed to adding more crap to CF just because one or two people think it would be cool. THIS, though, is a terrific suggestion. Other GPS systems have this function and I miss it dearly on CF.

I spend a lot of time each year driving around the US in rental cars with Hertz NeverLost (a Magellan unit). I think it's the absolute best in terms of directions, and would like to see CF emulate it more. The split screen with upcoming maneuver warnings, the 'ding dong' right at the turn, etc. make it very easy to use but also inobtrusive. How many times have we shouted at the nav lady in CF to STFU already?

The other thing the NeverLost has down cold is the POI/Yellow Pages functionality. I LOVE being able to say, "Take me to a Popeyes" and get a list with distance and direction to choose from. That's how CF's nav should work.

You can set it to just display visual notifications... Then you will get a similiar upcoming turn across the top of the map with no voice...

David, I miss dearly the visual notification. It was in in RC1 and the navigation is practically useless to me if it doesn't have this. I don't mind it the way it was in RC1 or even in D3 versions - i.e. a line, that shows you the distance to the next turn and what you have to do there. The voice navigation is not always reliable or beter said, you don't always have time to concentrate on what it wants to tell you (though I still want to use it). When you throw an eye onto the line you know precisely where you are and how long it will still take until you have to do something.
