not sure how that got removed, I added it back...

you should not need any audio codecs and for video I just install FFDShow, AC3Filter, and a good mpeg2 codec such as WinDVD5...

    ARGH

Can you AT LEAST make it so that we can keep the previous config files and custom plugins? It's getting to be a real PITA to make a copy of the CF directory, use uninstall, delete the real CF directory, install CF, configure CF, drag the old plugins into the new CF, relearn CF about the plugins, reconfigure the buttons...

there were multiple additions to the config files in the main application and in the plugins, so be careful dragging over those...

you do have to run through setup again, it's pretty quick and easy... then drag over a couple of plugin folders...

I agree, but there was a lot that had to be done for the DRM, as well as the next version will have have an option to install a windows service to monitor the music folders for auto updating... after that I see updates via the updater finally being possible...

(insert ****y sigh here) if only you had tagged the config files with a version number so that CF could detect an old version, and IMPORT those values into a new format.

On a desktop machine it's "quick and easy" - with a 7" monitor in a car with a keyboard balanced on my lap and no mouse it takes me about an hour.

??? So, installing a service requires deleting/reinstalling/reconfiguring/reloading the whole 40+meg of app?

I never had that issue with my own installers.

This is the 6th "release candidate" and the 8th beta I've been a part of. I'm all for long beta cycles, but this part of the process is getting a little old.

I would hope that he will pass out something for verification before actually releasing it. I would guess that there are at least two more "release candidates" before RTM.

Sounds about right to me - there will always be bugs and limiting them the best will take a couple more releases...

As always, a hearty LOL @ anyone complaining that David isn't doing enough to make this process friendly enough for us.
