Since many many people are able to successfully install and use the current program in their cars perhaps the problem is with you. Even so, some people are just never happy with anything and everyone in business eventually learns to accept that fact and ignore the grumblings of the few while pleasing the many.

I've been testing/trying every single version of CF since 1.4, and have decided not to upgrade from that version in my car... that is, until RC 1.4 came around. Sure, it has some remaining bugs, but there are no showstoppers in the critical areas. I cannot speak for XM of NAVI, because I don't use those, but for Media, embedding apps, and plugins this thing rocks. (whereas I agree prior versions where simply unusable).

Give latest release a try, it is really worth it -- coming from someone who knows what a pain prior versions could be.

    Peace.

I have updated the known issues thread...

    Centrafuse Known Issues

all and all we are very pleased with this release, most issues are fairly easy to fix and will be fixed fast...

I agree that features have been being added and causing issues, but this will not be an issue going forward... there is only one feature, to auto scan for music, left to add, that's it for now...

The XM issues have been put to the back of the list and not fixed because if need be once everything else is done, XM will be removed and the product will be stable... Then an update with XM will come afterwards... Hopefully it will all be fixed prior, but the standard feature set is the important thing...

The bugs are getting fewer and fewer and more obscure for most users with this latest release and I feel the next release only having one feature added will be even better...

I'm working to stabalize PhoneControl and get all navigation issues fixed within my control and report and wait for updates from Destinator the rest, which I will receive, just not always as fast as everyone here and myself want...

So basically with no features being added the application should start to completly stabilize, minus XM issues which will be fixed last, but will be fixed...

I know uninstalling/re-installing sucks, but people complain and wanted new releases faster, so that is what I did, now people complain they have to do it too much The updater will be used moving forward after the next release for updates, sorry for the inconvenience but bear with us we are getting there as fast as we can with the resources we currently have at hand...

wow... So you'll be changing the Flux homepage then?

    FEATURES INCLUDE:
    • MEDIA PLAYER
    • MEDIA MANAGER
    • SATELLITE RADIO
    • FM RADIO
    • AUDIO MIXER
    • BLUETOOTH PHONE INTEGRATION
You must have made some major commitment to release before the end of the year.

uh-huh. There's an echo in here... I think we heard this at 1.7 or RC2... Can't remember. But it worked once.

Like I said, I plan to get it working, but as suggested the stability of the main core features goes in front of the XM issues... I still believe it will all be finished now that no features are being added...

I have said many things in the past about releases and everything constantly changes, but the feature set is locked now, which is has never been before in the past...

the updater works and the one bug that was found when I tested it has been fixed it is that I basically don't have time to create updates when I change a lot of files, skin files, XML files, registering and un-registering objects, etc..

It is quicker for me to make releases and for a long time people complained releases were coming out too slow, now they are coming out too fast

We are working on it the best we can with our resources and yes the plan is to use the updater after the next release is completed that installes the service and hopefully has the last destinator engine update, then the updates will be fairly easy because they should mainly just be the main exe for bug fixes and new plugin DLL's...

'k, but my frustration comes from all the times that you've told us "I'm only waiting on Destinator to do something before I release the next version" - so why not work on XM during that time?

I've also suggested that you back away from XM, release the source to date, and let someone else finish it.

Damn, it's so close. The remaining bugs aren't that hairy to deal with, but they sure are debilitating.

Sure, and if the updater had worked from day one then you wouldn't have that side issue.

Get your core engine and support mechanism working... it makes the rest a lot easier to manage.

I've been thinking about this and have decided that (surprise! ) it bugs me that this will be a service.

Why is it a service? Why not just kick off a thread to manage your database while CF is up? The complexities that come from making this a service are just silly given that this is running on a machine where it's soul purpose is to support CF.

If I choose to exit CF back to the desktop, then it bugs me that a piece of CF will still be running on the box. Then, given the normal mouseless environment of a CarPC, getting to the service manager to kill this thing will be a pain.

I try really hard to keep a close eye on all of the processes that are running on any of my machines. A CF service is just something else to watch.
