Future (way future) feature idea - OBD2 and VFD

Okay, I know that you have OBD2 support and VFD support both in CF, now, can you mix the two?

I have a VFD mounted in my roofliner that I was using with my old PC to show me stuff like CPU temp and fan speeds, but the new system i'm using doesn't support speedfan (or rather, doesn't have any temp sensors), as such, i'm wondering if it would be possibe sometime in the future to be able to configure the VFD in CF so it can show data from the OBD2 plugin?

I realize this is way down the line as there are bigger fish to fry, but i'm sure people want to see more than the data that's already being shown at the top of the screen.

    Just a thought!

i've always seen this as a natural progression for cf. the minute this gets implemented is the minute i tear apart my dash again to figure outwhere to place my vfd screen that i currently own.

VFD support in CF is a bit of an issue right now. It works for some people but not for everyone. It's on David's list to work on, and once he gets that sorted out, I'll bet he'll start adding tags to it.

fwiw, I'd like to VFD become aware of a SLEW of data - current air temp, a "weather word", OBD tags, user environment variables, etc...

once I get the VFD working again for everyone, order a few parallel and serial VFD's and get them working, I will add more options for you to output...

If you will notice in settings you can choose what and where to display information on the VFD... I will just have to update this, shouldn't be hard to add all the GPS and and OBDII data as an option under the VFD output menu...

want to get the VFD output working right first though...

that would be great. i'd love to get vfd gps info incorperated into my hud. there is enough room for a small screen in there already.

Yup, like I said, I just wanted to get it put on whatever future feature list there was. I know there've been issues with it (which is one reason i've been using a seperate program to feed data to mine), but I also know that you have it on your list of fixes.

I haven't seen what CF can do with it recently. I'll see how mine behaves once I get the comp back in the car.
