    Elipsis in Media Manager

Just wondering how many people like the new way folders and songs are displayed with the elipsis at the beginning of the track...to me it looks like my music collection is untagged or not sorted at a glance...doesnt look clean to me...would rather have everything look nice and neat...can this be edited somehow in any of the xml's to remove it or is it a perm function?

Did you like it better not being able to see the song names? Just curious, many people complained about that and I thought this would be a good solution....

I guess I could make it an option to turn it on/off

I can understand why some people wouldnt like it...but for me i listen to my music everyday and know most of my albums and dont really need to see the entire track to know what it is...and would like the lists to look uniform...i think an option would be great...or just have it scroll that item after it has been highlighted for a very short period...like 1 or 2 sec...

I feel the same way. The human eye tends to read Left to Right. So what happens here, is that we first read elipsis, with truncated words, and continue reading and scanning for the Song name. It is not natural for the human brain to try to read this way.

I vote for this as the alternative solution:

    Song Name - Artist...

I have a few devices that do it this way, including my new Sonos, and it works just excellent that way!

I liked it the way it used to be...
but offcourse everyone likes it different ways, so i think the best sollution would be to make it an option...

    I prefer
    artist - song na....

Speaking of elipses, David, you might want to use the elipsis character, instead of three periods. The elipsis character is a little shorter in most fonts...

    Song Name - Artist...

EW EW! Whats best about beta's??? Being able to test things to see if they work or not! David I say you test this method out and see what everyone says.. If not change it back but lets see!

why test all the possibilities out if david can make it an option?
making it an option would make everybody happy...
    just let people choose between

song name first or artist first
    left alignment or right alignment...

why make it any harder and test it all in 4 beta releases?

Harder for whom? Certainly easier for David to hardcode the change a few times to test the waters. Making it an option requires a whole lot more coding...

sure, i agree that it would take more time for david to code it as an option, but it would take a lot more time for everyone to test the 4 possibilities out...
if he would have to code it 4 times another way, and then chose the way most people like it, he would have to code it 5 times, and even after coding it 5 times maybe 33% of the users would be satisfied...
coding it as an option would only require one more version (instead of test it in 4 different beta releases) and would make all the users happy...
i think it's worth the coding to make it an option...
