    embedding applications

I have just upgraded to a new harddrive, fresh install of XP, and CF 1.1 I'm not sure if this is a bug or a problem with my xp config but I am unable to get any programs to embed into cf. CFIG, notepad etc load in their own windows with a blank grey box behind in cf. I did a full xp install, ran 2fastxp and disabled some services. I have tried both partial window names and full window names with no success. Any other ideas? I've never had this problem with any other CF version.

Problem has been solved. The Error logs indicated an error with the performance counters, I was then able to find the instructions to fix the problem and posted them below.

I succeeded to reenable the appropriate performance counter by opening
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\PerfProc\Performance
    in
the registry and removing an entry named "Disable Performance
    Counters".

I was going to suggest that exact thing. It is a common thing really.... we should make that a FAQ somewhere!

What setups have this disabled? I thought this was enabled by default... Every Windows XP SP2 install seems to embed fine for me...

I doubt that default WIndows setups have this disabled.

In my case, it was one of those opular Windows 'optimizer' applications/scripts that turned it off.

I suspect it was the 2fastxp script that turned it off in my case.

there is a close button in the header for the external application... you can close and exit the application and only load it when you need it...
