I know it has been posted that an apostrophe causes a problem, but I haven't yet seen anything about a colon.

    Tracks do not sort correctly

Some albums do not sort their tracks properly if the Track# field of the ID3v2 tag is set to "##/##"

I checked out some albums that I know sort incorrectly in CF using Tag & Rename and noticed the ID3V2 Tag lists the Track# as ##/## as in "Track ## of ## Tracks"...

The tracks that do sort correctly have the Track# field of the ID3v2 tag set to simply ## as opposed to ##/##

I believe iTunes did this... They have a "Track ## of ##" setting when editing tags

I've just thrown a lot more MP3s onto my system, and discovered some annoying possible bugs in reading ID3 tags.

I have a few MP3s where the name is displayed eg.
    Code:
    Some Artist - TrackName1
    Some Artist - TrackName2
And some where on the end of both the artist and track name a hollow square character is displayed. The one Windows always displays when it encounters an unprintable character.

In both cases, the tags display correctly in XMMS (basically WinAmp for linux) and in the tooltip you get when hovering over the MP3 in Windows.

    Id3

For the id3 thing, just try to delete the id3v1 tag and use only id3v2. The same happened to me until i did that. And of course, you have to rebuid your library afterwards. You can use any id3 editor out there, like id3 tag-it

I'm not really keen on doing that. I use RSync to keep my Car PC's MP3 collection in sync with my workstation, so if I go and change all the ID3 tags, the next time it runs it will want to sync all 7gigs across 802.11b wireless.
I'm happy to live with it until a later release as the problem is purely cosmetic. I'm just reporting it as a bug so it can be fixed.

    Got another one.
When adding to the current playlist, if I choose to browse music, then choose Music Paths, then add a directory that contains both MP3s and pictures, the entire contents of the directory, including the pictures (PNGs in this case) are queued up. This means that when playing the queue, a song will finish and it will display a picture then sit there forever unless you press the next track button.

If I have chosen to browse music, rather than browse pictures then I would expect to only be presented with audio files and thus when adding a complete directory that only the audio files would get queued up.

This happened because one of the albums I have (Ayreon - The Human Equation, I highly recommend it and I don't normally like that kind of music) has a .PNG file present for each song but the naming scheme isn't one that Centrafuse recognises (folder.jpg did not get queued)

It'd be nice if there was a way to get these images displayed to accompany the song in question, as opposed to folder.jpg, but this isn't really important

I like how the volume settings for DVD playback differs from media playback (DVD's seem to be softer). But when i switch from a dvd, cranking the volume up to 90%, and wish to go back to my mp3's, at 45% volume, there is amoment in which i will hear the mp3 playback at the DVD sound level (90%) And it can produce a shockingly loud blip of sound. (This is with crossfading disabled by the way)

The problem goes away after enabling crossfading and using as little as 1 second of it. But I really would rather not have crossfading, nothing bothers me more than the effect it creates when two tracks meant to be played back to back are crossfaded.

Perhaps a forced crossfade of 1 second when switching between sources would be in order? Even if the user disabled crossfading? That seems to give Centrafuse enough time to readjust the output levels. Or maybe ensuring that audio output will not recommence until the respective media's volume setting has been applied?

    Thanks! Great product!

Oh and I'm not sure if this is a bug, but I have a fair amount of .ts files that are mpeg2 HiDef transport streams. I use DVBPortal HDTV Pump Filter to allow playback of them in Windows Media Player, and a program like WinDVD plays them natively.

Frodoplayer and Road Runner support their playback (wmp piggybacking i suppose). Any chance Centrafuse will support them as well? Thanks again.

If i rename the extension of the movies from .ts, to .mpg CF will recognise them. But if i try to play them, a seperate window called the "ActiveMovie Window" will pop up behind CF, with a WindowsXP styled title bar and border. This window is a seperate entity from the CF interface and scales 1:1 with the movie files original dimensions (1920 x 1080i). Hitting the full screen visualization button on the CF lower bar only brings up a black screen as well.

Any way to get the ActiveMovie Window resized and integrated into CF's UI? And support for the .ts extension format?

    Thanks!

If you empty the QUEUE playlist using the remove "-" button in the media manager, things go awry.

The music playing in the media player will not stop playing, and cannot be "ejected" either.

You can add files back into your playlist from your Favorites list and from search and files browsing, but not from other user created playlists.

After clearing the QUEUE playlist you cannot save your favorites playlist or, any user created playlist under it, as a new user-created playlist, due to a "playlist is empty" error.

If you empty your QUEUE, choose any existing playlist and hit "Play" for it in the media manager, your music will load as a source that can be "ejected" in the media player. But if you do "eject" this source the music will not stop automatically. You must forcibly stop it.

Looks like QUEUE is tied up into a few things, and doesn't like to be empty!

    Thanks
