I know in my case it takes at least 4 tries to get the skin to switch. It may just be a timing issue, because it looks like you have to be EXACT on how long you hold it down, which is annoying at best. The skin just needs to change if you hold it down for four seconds, and at the end of that four seconds, switch..

    Jahntassa is correct..

The right way to implement this is to perform the action once the time has passed, (and also beep while at it). Performing the action on finger UP is not a good idea at all.

I added sounds and everything auto performs as well...

Just when holding down dim you will also here a beep at 2 seconds, if you let go the screen will go black, at 4 seconds it will beep again auto switch skins...

    Sounds good!

It'd be nice if you were working on a hardware add-on for CF too, something with relays and inputs, that'd make this system even better. Like if you had a relay board (USB or something) that could turn off a relay at that 2 second mark and actually turn OFF the screen. Also good for pulling in an ignition signal so CF can control suspend / hibernate for those of us without a soft power button on the motherboard.

Do you have a file "error.log" after this problem occurs in your Centrafuse installation folder?

One of your config XML files is getting corrupted, please zip and email me all the XML files under System folder... This will help me determine how my setup is allowing some invalid character, which is breaking the application...

    you can email to support

Perhaps it would be better to display a box on the screen after 2 seconds saying "Turning off screen" and if I let go there do that, if I keep the button pressed then after 4 seconds the box changes to "Change layout" or "Change to Day/Night skin", and if I let go there it does that...

I dont have beeps enabled and could not hear anything.

PS, at least this thread explained to me why nothing happened whenever i pressed the "dim" button :-) Didnt know it was changed so that I should keep it pressed for a while :-) BUT A VERY COOL FEATURE!

A visual as well... i will throw it in and see how it looks...

I made all the buttons auto happen when you hold them down... There are only two instances where a button can perform two actions, one at 2 seconds and one at 4 seconds...

That is the DIM button and the Radio Presets... Now when you hold DIM, after 2 seconds it beeps, at this point you know you can let go and the screen will go blank... After 4 seconds it will beep again, but automatically switch the skins...

Same goes for Radio Preset, after 2 seconds it beeps, which means your preset is set.. After 4 seconds it pops up the keyboard automatically to allow you to name your preset...

I will look into adding a visual notification as well, if it looks good...

Ah, that is perfect! Sounds like it will work great that way. Pretty much the way a standard radio works when you try to save a preset in a given 'button'.

Not too crazy about the visuals. Most people wouldn't be looking at the screen while driving and performing those functions, in my opinion.
