Skinning to go... VisualDesigner2!
There are other gremlins at work that's still causing you to get the USB_INSERT_NOTIFY event (or whatever MSFT calls it these days).
I have a couple of registry hacks that I could do to kill the UUID, but then Windows keeps thinking that it's a new device. I'll look at the latest Tweak UI PowerToy and see if that'll squash it in the car - though the method it uses doesn't kill it on my desktop.
Windows is such a hack.
Thanks for thinking about it David.
Windows. Hitting the AUTOPLAY dialog box is one level, another level gets hit by tools like TweakUI and there's one at the hardware level as well.
There's a tricky point in disabling crap where Windows will stop responding to things you care about, like stuffing a CD in a drive - not in terms of auto notify, but EVER recognizing that a CD has been inserted. This is an issue for apps like Nero or multi-CD installers which will prompt you for the next CD.
You can certainly get low enough in Windows core that it won't pass along notify messages, but then NOTHING works.
It's worth a shot if you think there's value in it. I'm open to being an alpha tester btw.If I got rid of that, which I can, then you might have what you are looking for...
