I'm unsure why you would have to refresh the navigation screen when it auto switches, I have no problems with all my official maps... I am not sure what maps you are using, but they may be the problem...

You can disable this feature in naviation settings, whether to auto switch upon turn approuch, or whether to auto show turn by turn list...

You can easily fix your #2 by making an Israeli GPSKeyboard file that contains all the characters you need for making the maps scroll properly... It's a simple XML file you can edit and rename... Then in settings you can set the Keyboar Layout...

You will also need to make a Keyboard XML for Israeli as well, if you don't mind the English one at least copy and pase it and renmae it to Israeli.xml... Then it will show up in your keyboard layout selection in settings and you can change ober to use your new GPSKeybaord file that has all the characters you need...
