No it's not, you can run it even without frontend. It's actually an application that adds an onscreen keyboard to the app and you can use it with or without a frontend. When you change the settings in the ini file and you start the application GMPC is launched and the keyboard functionallity is added, no more no less.

Putput, thanks for your efforts in getting us all closer to having this working correctly.

Biggest problem that I see is that you can't use the normal button to bring it out of fullscreen and then get back to the main screen whilst leaving it running...........

I usually just setup the trip and then minimise it and let it prompt me over my music, but in this case your only option to get back to the main screens seems to be to close it which isn't ideal.

I don't understand why Centrafuse doesn't want to work with this, I can only assume because the application won't let it resize down to allow the toolbars to be visable, but I'm sure they could recode the external application stuff so it put scrollbars in if the window won't let itself be sized that small, then they could allow the usual functions.

Thanks again though for your efforts, it's a step in the right direction.

we improved external apps to fix the OSK and improve embedding in RC7, which helped... we will work to add more suggested features as soon as possible...

I'm sure we can help to make it better...

one thing, just like the iGuidance plugin, a plugin would give someone the power to do anything...

Someone should talk to the iGuidance plugin creator to have him help build a Garmin plugin, this way it will embed like you want, size like you want, can have buttons that send commands to Garmin to make it seem more integrated...

I have attempted to contact him a couple of time, but no response(others have tried as well). I would like to get my hands on the source code for iGuidance plugin and the cloak program to see if I could add some features.

I just used the add application through centrafuse. It is seemless I love it. I just use zero weight keyboard for the osk. I tried this app but the problem is I cannot navigate from the navigation without closing it. The centrafuse just keeps the program running in the background and frames it when you select it from the menu. So you keep getting your voice prompts. Great job Flux!

Flux have kindly fixed the native OSK so that now works with GMPC, no need for Zero Weight anymore also they have just improved the embedding so it works a better with GMPC now. Still a little hard to use on the 800x480 systems as there is now room for play/pause buttons etc. but I'm sure with some small skinning changes the 800x600 or greater systems will work alot better now.
The main thing a pluggin would be required for now is to attenuate the volume of CF when GMPC speaks. Currently I have ATT set to 40 and activate it when I'm using GMPC which allows the directions to be louder than the music. Still not ideal though.
