As far as the card, I believe that is a Conexant 87* that multiplexes the 4 signals so you cut your frame rate with each camera.

There's a variant of that card, slightly more expensive but with 4 encoders, one for each channel. Double check before you buy.

Does nothing to do with cf... but since u seem to be rather knowledgeable about bt8x8 chipset... are u possibly aware if there exists WDM driver which allows capturing from several inputs simultaneously?

Not really, cards like that are fairly common is all and trying to get it (or most anything) working under linux requires a bit of research.

The only windows WDM driver I came across in my travels was

an open source WDM cap driver. Don't recall if it does more than one input. I think it installs multiple devices, but not sure, was awhile back.You'll have to look at the docs.

I just want to add 3-4 cameras to my Carputer, be able to view and record them, all at the same time, within CF..

Dont know what hardware setup is the best.. I dont want to use a lot of money.. This will only be used to parking assistanse, and some small clip recording while driving av streetmeets ect..

Can any of you help me with a setup, since you seem to have some ideas about this.. Not very expencive..

The card should work with the upcoming version of CAM or TV plugin. I also added the ability to record from the CAM plugin to a CAM Videos folder that shows up in your library automatically.

I do not currently have the option to record multiple sources at the same time.

Sounds good.. A multicam show and record would be perfect..


But, any idea for alternate setups?? Other pci cards, usb devices??
This was just something i came over on ebay, but other ideas are wanted..

Most cards that work in MCE and most other HTPC's should work with the new CAM and TV plugin, there are lots to choose from.

i know that there are many tv cards, but what about videocapture cards with multiple inputs??

I have no experience with any of them, so it's hard to say. If it has a WDM driver, then it should be no problem.
