Thread: Request for an old school logo......

I'm no photoshop wiz, so I won't even attempt to make you a logo, but I am glad to see another classic joining the mp3car family.

Slightly off topic, but I'm curious as to how your going to mount the screen in the car, building a center console perhaps?

Can't wait to see the Nova when it's done, always have been a fan of them, even if it is a bowtie.

Ya I am making a center console. Or should I say attempting to.... we'll have to see how it turns out. If I don't like the console I am also considering mounting it in the radio delete plate that way it will look like there is no radio at all. Not to worried about theft or anything as the nova is just a weekend toy and stays in the garage when not being driven.

So what are you working on? And how are you incorporating a PC in it? I am always open to new ideas in getting this into and old car.... not as easy as the new ones.... the 63 has no plastic and once something is cut it is cut...... There are not many parts available to patch up a mistake.

Have to agree with you on cutting up a steel car, I'm very much aware of the difficulties of trying to mount things, and the hesitancy in cutting up a perfect factory dash. I've got a '68 Mustang myself (yes, I know it's a blue oval ), and the lack of a plastic dash I could easily hack up has been a bit of a problem during the design process to say the least.

I'm going a similar route as yourself, and just making a center console. I was lucky enough to have a factory console for my car, which I traced to get the perfect outline of the trans hump, and am planning on making a combo MDF/fiberglass console once I get my screen, which is the last piece of hardware I'm waiting on. I was considering mounting a smaller screen in the existing console, but the biggest I could go would have been a 7" screen, so the decision to make a console wasn't a very hard one. I'm planning on incorporating either a 12.1" or 15" touchscreen into the console, as well as a Griffin Powermate knob for volume control/playlist scrolling.

Just curious, you decided to stay with the 6 cylinder drivetrain? Noticed the four lug wheels, and the single header in the empty engine bay, any reason you didn't go with a small block 350? The car looks great though, I love the blue, if my car didn't look so good in green I'd seriously consider painting it a midnight blue, little darker than what you've got, but very similar.

Not hate'n on the blue oval.... I had an Tropical Turquoise 65 stang before the nova. If it were a fastback I would have never gotten rid of it. But I had a 4 door 64 nova in high school and always wanted a 2 door coupe so when the opportunity presented itself I jumped on it.

As for the Drive line in the nova I do have plans later on down the road for a ls1, I've had the car for 4 years but when I started this latest project gas was at its high so I decided to stick with the 6. The 6 is strong and the car is light I was able to chirp second through the TH350. I have also toyed with the idea of a turbo set up on the old inline 6, I know some people who have been able to get 300 hp out of them with torque for days.
It does have true dual exhaust one of the collectors must be pushed down and out of the way in the pictures.
I also have the parts (spindles, steering knuckles and brake parts for the front and a rear end from a 64 nova) to convert it over to a more modern and standard 5 lug set up. I am in the process of cleaning them up and rebuilding them..... but it has been in the teens to mid 30's here lately and don't feel like going out into the garage much when it gets that cold.... that is why I am working on the pc stuff right now I can do that right in my warm office. I am working on mounting an ipod dock in the ashtray so when not in use it is out of sight. I do not use the radio for regular listening in my truck I do use it for xm (over fm) so I don't think I am even going to install one in the nova that is why the pc is so interesting to me. I can hide everything and only have a small screen that when I do switch over to the Ls1 I can use it with the obde as a gauge cluster and not even show it as a radio.
I would love to see pics of yours and anyone else who is trying to install in an old car maybe pre 1980 ish.... American or other I know we can't be the only 2 so lets see them......

Was gonna mention the two door, definitely a plus, can't complain about a nice 4 door, but it's kinda like a long bed truck

I can say from experience you'll be happy if you go with an 8. I did a conversion on my Mustang, originally had a 200ci inline 6, and now has a very mild 302 with an AOD tranny. The thing gets great gas mileage, yet still has the V8 rumble and low end torque, I converted all the old 4 lug stuff to 5, going with power disc up front while I was at it, and a 9 inch in the rear with the larger truck drums.

I'll try and find some pictures of the car, don't have any of the audio yet, as it's all still in the planning/buying stage right now, but I've got a ton of pictures of the build.
