So I searched and searched this whole board about Map Monkey and Destinator, not finding what I was looking for. But then... voila!

I just looked in the default /skins folder and found a bunch of new "destinator" screens I'd never noticed before, and then found a /screens/destinator section in the skin.xml. Duh.

I'll see what I can churn out this week. For now, if you want to use either BrushedMetal or BrushedAluminum, and don't want it to break when you go to your GPS app, copy the destinator*.jpg files from the default /skins folder (for your resolution) and copy the stuff between the <destinator> tags from the default skin.xml to the one in your BM or BA folder (in the <screens> section, of course). That should get you by. To make things fit just a little better, use PSP or other image editor to "gray-scale" all the destinator*.jpg files.

Ok... right now I'm just looking for aesthetics. Can you guys running integrated Destinator copy these 4 files into your /screens folder, pull up the "destinations" dialog and let me know how it looks?

Note 1: These are ONLY the 848x480 files. To test in Stretched 800x600, you'll have to resize the images. the "destinations" pop-ups should be 377x200 and the header/empty files should be 800x75.

Note 2: The skin.xml will be updated later, but I kept the same screen size and the button locations should be pretty close.

The Destinator screens look pretty simple to do once I get the basic feel for the pop-ups. You guys give me the "go ahead" and I'll finish it up.

Don't like the white letters looks better in black on aluminum. Destinator anuminum is brighter than rest of skins. Menus are still blue for some reason?????

The beauty with Frodos brushed aluminium was that it was all "one piece" is there any way you can makeit less "Bitty"?

I'm not sure what you mean by "bitty". Do you mean the pixelation, or do you mean something about the layout or button styles?

Is it just on these screens, or throughout the skin?

That's odd. It shouldn't be any brighter, as I'm using exactly the same background image and button styles as in the rest of the skin.

I'll finish the rest of the destinator screens so you can get a better feel for how it's going to look without having to guess around the unfinished/blue parts. I'll change the skin.xml as best I can without actually seeing it in action, and you can tweak it from there if things still don't line up just right.

    Thanks!

its like made up of "pieces" of brushed aluminium probally because CF uses different images for different parts, cant we have one piece of brushed alu in the background?

I think I see what you are referring to. You mean the raised "bezel" effect that surrounds, for example, the active playlist in Music, or the browser screen in Web? I did that to sort of "frame" those text areas. If I remember, in Frodo, those text areas are just cutout of the aluminum and the text sits against a plain, black background.

I'll do a test screen tonight, if this is what you're talking about, and you can tell me what you think.
