you can simply click the dim button in the bottom global nav... It will provide three different levels of brightness... When the darker modes are applied it looks a lot like your screenshot... I always leave it dimmed in my car because I like the skin darker also...

For some reason the CF 'dimming' feature tends to shift colors too much -- not sure what its doing, but it doesn't look right to me.

The solution I am shooting for, is to configure a special 'night' setting in PowerStrip (by changing the brightness and gamma settings, I think this is all done in hardware) and then find a way to 'toggle' between the powerstrip 'default' and the 'night' settings from within CF. Might involve some clever scripting, will look into this.

the dim functions set the gamma on the video card... it looks different on different video cards.. The darkest level does start to mess with the colors... The second level doesn't look bad on my M10000 to me...

I might should look into adjusting the gamma and brightness... I think once the gamma gets to low and the brightness is still up, the colors start to mess up...

OK, so you *are* actually varying the gamma settings? Cool. Here is my suggestion:

1) Tweak both gamma *and* brightness
2) Make the values configurable, at least on the INI file.

Speaking of making things configurable, I *LOVE* that everything can be tweaked through the settings dialogs, but I also think that by doing that you might be limiting yourslef. (i..e. I can see how you might not want to add the feature to tweak something, because you would need to add it all to the interface etc. versus just allowing us to tweak an xml file) Thoughts?

I'll post this in the 'feature requests' forum, but I vaguely recall discussions about the "DIM" button being configurable to act instead as a day/night skin toggle switch.

actually, i like the modified skin alot. just loaded it and it is easier on the eyes. and ive got a slight migraine right now so that says quite a bit.
