Thread: Audi MMI Skin

Looks really good. I like it, great for a night skin. I'm gonna have to try it out.
You know what would look really good? If you made the text to match the red color of the interior lights of Audi, then it would be a perfect match. This way if would look like the climate controls or the radio.
Just a suggestion.

DAB and DVD would fit perfectly if only you could write them vertically. I take it the skin.xml file does not allow you to do that?

I agree with Quarreo the you could make some of the white text red. It would also be cool to add the gradiant effect to the buttons in media view just like you have on the tools menu. Last nit-pick: The embedded window size got a lot smaller and more square . That's totally going to mess up my SKINbedder settings LOL.

Anyway, those are just some suggestions. Great Job! It's the first totally reorganized skin and it looks and works great.

The font seems to be off on my home computer, but it worked fine on my work computer. I hope it works in the car. (See screen-shot of iG SKINbedded)

i thought about using red as down-state font color, maybe i will add this...

vertical font is not possible, i just changed the button order and labels, if necessary, in the cf config file to make them fit.

@rpm_vr4: obviously you don't have the agency fb font, i thought everybody got it from cf 1.2... with arial the labels don't fit anymore, i added the font to the skin package now.

will this be ported to 1.4?

Yes... I am anxious for an update that would now include the porting to 1.4. Do you plan on doing a port, and if so are you planning on other updates? I really love the theme of this skin (even if it is designed after a car that I don't own). I think it still needs some color tweaks (more white-to-black gradiants and more red color splashed throughout) and some usability changes (I'd like a larger base-size for embeded programs and I would love to see more items in the lists). Do you plan on upgrading it, and if so how? This is still the only skin with a truly modified UI. I would love to see it grow.

i'm almost finished porting the skin but there are a few problems left.
centrafuse is very pedantic with the png files, not only the printing resolution (see brushed metal skin post) but also some other things (maybe the color depth) seem to be critical. for the blue ice skin all images have 32bpp but all my grafics tools are shrinking the palette to the needed depth wich means some images are just 24bpp.
as a result i get a .NET error as soon as the size of the skin is set to smoething different to the native resolution.
i tried changing the color depth to 24bpp on one of the images of the blue ice skin and got the same error.

I didn't know this... I will check it out...
