A lot, actually. I just took care of the stuff that I will mainly see on screen. I don't really plan on using the EQ stuff, etc. I also didn't touch the dialouge screens. When you get the skin, you'll see there is a lot left to do, however, if you are good at Photoshop, which you obviously are, it should be relatively easy, just time consuming. As long as you keep all the screens that need to be done at the same dimension, I can tweak the .XML so everything lines up.

As I had indicated earlier, the skin is far from finished, however, it is very usable in its current state. The screens from the Brushed Aluminum skin actually look ok when combined with this skin.

If you do decide to finish it, post the files when you're done.

The skin will be posted very soon as tj!2k4 has offered to host it. Look for the link shortly.

As I had indicated earlier, my skills at Photoshop are novice at best. I know a lot of people save the working files as PSDs. This is necessary so layers can be easily edited later. Unfortunately, I have trouble with layers (I don't know why, I just do). It seems every time I do something then want to make a change using, say the clone tool or a simple paste, or a color change, it won't let me (I know I just don't have the technique down). My technique for dealing with this is to do a merge. Once you do a merge, you can't go back and select individual objects. Most of my PSDs would be useless. I'll get the hang of it someday. I simply don't do enough graphic work to warrant my learning how to use Photoshop properly. More and more, though, it seems I am going to have to.

To answer your question, the only place you need to change the logo is in the upper left hand corner. You can do a cut to remove the image, then use the clone and smudge tools to paint the blank spot the cut creates. I know this is not very elegant. If you look closely, you will see I didn't really do a good job with the repaint. Good enough, I suppose. The main logo for the startup (splash) screen and the main screen can be obtained from mercury7. He makes awesome logos and I believe there is one for Mazdas. Take a look here:

The second link contains ONLY the unbranded screens, so you will need to download both .zip files in order to obtain a complete, brandable skin.


Instructions for the second file are as follows:

Drop the 'blank' from the file names, paste whatever logo you
want, then put the files in the 'screens' folder.

yup, first real skin for cf 1.4

i was too scared to touch xml files when i did the brushed metal/aluminum

the last real skin we had was predator1's audi mmi skin, which is on hold til 1.5 is released. glad to see my brushed aluminum skin used on this new skin though

emdzey01...I'm glad you and mercury7 have replied. I had reservations about using your stuff (I absolultely hate stepping on anybody's toes). I just need to hear from proximo and I'll feel much better. I thought I got his images from this forum, however, it turns out I got them from the Centrafuse forum. I posted a message in that forum to give him a heads up.

I have absolutely no problem with handing the graphic work over to someone with better Photoshop skills (mercury7 has offered to help as well) than me. Like I said earlier, I've become well aquainted with the .XML file (which is huge, as you well know). Maybe if we split the work up, say you do the dialouge screens and mercury7 finish up the images in the 'screens' folder I didn't touch, we'll get a finished product a lot quicker. There is also a good possibility proximo has a lot of finished work he just hasn't shared yet. At any rate, just let me know what you guys want to do. I would be more than happy to get this done as quickly as possible.

BTW, I must say (after spending some time with the complexity of the .XML) David, from Centrafuse, has done an awesome job with this program. Hey Dave.....what is it written in? C?, C++?, C#? VB? Please advise.

One other thing...I posted a thread regarding track layout. A few people viewed it but no one has replied yet. I'll ask it again here (since this thread appears to be a little more popular).... is there any way to manipulate the way the track info is displayed while a song is playing? It currently has the following layout:

Artist - Track Title (all on one line)

Is it possible to break this up into two lines, like this?:

Track Title
Artist

If you look at the Corvette skin, you'll notice I've made the region where track info is displayed much wider to accomodate two lines, instead of one. I just can't figure out how to display the track info on two lines. Any ideas Dave? Sorry if this has been addressed earlier. I can't find it anywhere using search (yes shakes.....I did use search this time )

Let's see what proximo's got. I'd hate to have to try to replicate it if he's already got a PSD with layers that I can rearrange a bit for the other screens.

If you look at reply #13 in this thread you will note the PSD files are useless (in fact, I don't think I saved any for this project). Give me about 15 minutes and I'll send a file to TJ that has a screen without the logo. I probably should have included it in the file I sent him earlier.
