Permission needed for RR skin release

Sorry if this is posted in the wrong forum etc... but thought this was the best place for it...

I am asking for permission to release a skin I've been working on which looks similar to the default CF skin. No art work has been used from CF, only the basic look. But I would prefer to ask for permission first. I have been running a thread asking people what they think and if I should release it anyway.. most say go ahead do. BUT I aint in the business of upsetting anyone.. rocking the boat etc.. and would prefer to do things right.

The only reason I'm doing this is because the cf look is 'awesome' .. its just a shame that CF in its present form doesnt support my needs.

I have uploaded a video of a my skin in its present form so you can check it out, it may help you decide.. who knows you might even get some ideas yourself from it ;-)

anyway I wont go on.. O and the video can be downloaded HERE its in Xvid format.

Let me know your thoughts..

Dude there is already an exact clone of the CF skin released for RR and no has said anything. Yours looks similar but IMO only the main menu and the colors look somewhat close. I think your taking this "permission" thing way too far and David could probably care less about your skin or RR. He has his own app to worry about. Again these are only my opnions, I do respect your decision to talk to the CF peeps about it, but seriously I don't think they are going to care if you release this or not. Now us RR peeps, on the other hand, embrace your work and want to add this impressive piece of code to our already extensive library of badass, usable skins.

I only showed the screens that are similar to CF, the vid / osk / and gps screens are nothing like the original, other than the basic layout..

I concur, what's so different than all those other look alike skins. If this was an issue then no one would ever be able to reproduce anything. Everyone copies something from somewhere else. I agree with blk02si, you're taking this permission thing a little step further!!

Thing is though, CF cannot be copyrighted for how it looks. Only the actual elements in it. And if you made your own and didn't re-use theirs I can't see that there is much anyone can say. Still better to not throw the cat amongst the pidgeons though eh?

Nice looking skin from you as usual

Could do with a narrower list of buttons on the left, take up a bit to much space...

Oh and BTW, stop messing with skins when you have FD & D6 to sort out
