Although I'm running 1024x768, I do think having as much vertical space as possible available would be handy!
Am I the only one who finds the layout of the Navi skin a bit too "wide"?
I always drive "up" in a navigational map, and therefore have greater interest in what´s ahead of me instead of what´s left and right to me.
The standard skin already has the menu bar and the lower music-navigation bar taking up space, and obviously most people are running this on a widescreen monitor, so shouldn´t the info and navi buttons be placed to the left/right and free up more space for the vertical part of the map?
I did some crude ugly pictures here, but nobody commented, does this mean you all find the current skin perfect?

I know what you mean about wanting to look ahead. The dilema is looks vs functionality. The whole CF package looks and feels good because all the menus look the same - even though D6 is a different app, it doesn't feel like it. But, menus to the side would add more functionality.
So, get skinning and then we've got the choice!![]()

First of all I suck at graphics and have never tried skinning nor want to spend a ton of time learning it :-)
I´m just going for the best out-of-the-box solution...

It takes roughly 2 hours of someone's time to adapt the current skin to do what you want. Assuming that is someone who knows what they're doing.
If I ever port the Navi screens to my Nexus skin, I will definitely consider putting the buttons on the right to get more vertical space as you have mentioned...
