Sweet another editor comming out. Try to put undo redo into it from the begining! Its a pain if not planned ahead of time. Will you be releasing source code too? Cant wait to see what you have.![]()
Hi guys,
I'm a developer for Centrafuse...kind of a hobist dev person. I have been programming a skin editor unlike no other for Centrafuse and I'm releasing a preview alpha to show you the potential of my offering.
The features of the skin editor are barely functional right now but I have a solid foundation in code and have been in developement for well over a year now. My goal is to grow the editor to be top quality for Centrafuse.
The features thus far are as follows:
- Skins from V1.7 -> RC5 work, this is exciting to me as I started developing the skin editor from V1.7 XML changes and so far I have not had to change one line of code relating to any code changes up until RC5. I have done a lot of testing to make sure the skinners will have the option of making 1 skin 1 time for all versions of CF. It's not there yet but it is coming.
- The editor is WSYIWG, there is no visible XML editing and you use it like a paint program. I don't know how many threads I've seen that say they hate editing the XML files. With this editor you will not be able to period. You will have to visualize the code and paint it on the screen. Artists should not touch XML
I will be releasing the first version very soon (less than a week away) on the Centrafuse forums for the community to preview and give me feedback. The editor is no where near functional as other editors but it's meant to give you hope that there will be something out there.
For now hope you guys will like what you see and provide me with some valuable feed back in the centrafuse support forums. Stay tuned....

once it goes through a first round of testing I will put it up on the website for download...
great job!!

Djerik made a few versions of a Skin Editor a few months back. I do believe he made his source available and dropped it (I think, don't quote me on that!)
His was used for V1.7 and may have worked a few versions after that.
Anyways I don't want to say mine's the only one and I believe someone else also wrote a point release skin editor.
In the next 2 days I will be putting up a point release, this version will be used for minor use and feedback. I have already started coding the "next" version of the editor and hope to build on what this early release demonstrates.
And to answer pRoFiT's question, no I will not be releasing source code for it as long as I am developing it. I will probably not release source code ever for it, I'm not one to share my libraries with other dev's. Some of the source is used in my other projects and wouldn't want to have that public.
But I can certainly share code or give advice for how to do things programatically
I just grabbed a few skin's from various versions out on the internet and so far I've tested V1.7 skin's and newer V1.6 skins I couldn't find and V1.4 skins will not work due to the substantial change in XML code.
I was going to post on the centrafuse forums the executable today but the forums are down. maybe tomorrow?
Hi Zerach,
will you also support skining for plugins?
Not at this time...but as a future wish list item I have added it to my list.
I will have to discuss with Veetid and figure out if it's a consistent structure and how it needs to be implemented.
So consider yourself heard and it's on my list to look at.
Cheers,
