How do you change the main menu?

I'd like to alter the main menu and remove the menu as it is in the main skin and just put buttons directly on the interface just like the play, next, previous, etc. buttons. Can I do that? I've been messing with the skin.xml and can't figure out how to do that yet...

not sure what you mean, but you can put the buttons anywhere and remove any buttons that you want... you just don't design them in your image and put 0,0,0,0 for the X,Y,Width,Height in the skin.xml file...

So, that would eliminate the "pop-up" menu and just put the buttons on the main interface?

What I'm looking to do is take away the main menu entirely and just put buttons that would be there on the interface with the play, ff, rew, volume and other buttons. I have an area on one side that has those buttons and want to put some Media, GPS, Phone and other buttons in the same way that are shown at all times no matter what app you are using (GPS, Media, etc.). If that's not really possible, that's fine, I would just rather do it this way, so you don't have to click twice to get somewhere.
