FS: 2x40 backlit inversed arby lcd

2x40 LCD for sale... parallel interface. Used for about 4 months and upgraded to a tft lcd. i used this lcd with the markus zehnde plugin nicely. it also works with all the other plugins but i recommend the zhende (sp?).

I bought a -5V power supply for it so all you have to supply is +5V and GND and it will work. has contrast and brightness controlls.

    asking $30 shipped

    yea but

    how big is it?

In my Grand Am GT, I have this blank area where a Cassette Deck used to be. I'm not sure the exact measurements (if anyone here knows, please let me know), but I believe I measured it once and it was about 6 inches wide. It would be a perfect spot for a small text LCD.

So, I basically need to know if it will fit. Also, how does it connect to the PC, via parallel cable?

we can dicuss this in email if you wish. My email address is in my profile.

    Display: 6" x 10/16"
    Bezel: 6 6/16" x 1 3/16"
    Board size: 7 3/16" x 1 5/16"

HD44780 controller means parallel connectivity. also needs +5V from ground or a power connector.

    ok

OK, the opening I have is 5 inches. It was the spot that used to have the cassette deck in my Grand Am. The total opening is about 7 inches wide, but only 5 inches would be viewable. You say the board is 7 and 3/16", which I think would be just a bit too big.

That's a shame too, becuase you already have it wired.

I wonder if I can move my head unit down to the bottom, where the ash tray used to be. If I did that, I'd have a full DIN size available, in which I could install the LCD.

I'll check into that, and let you know.
