WTB: PCI or USB Wireless LAN adapter CHEAP!

I just need a cheap wireless adapter, either PCI or USB, preferable PCI for use in my car. Doesn't have to be special at all, just needs to work. I'm looking for something very inexpensive here. Thanks.

since wireless adapters were designed for laptop use mainly, PCI adapters are expensive (indeed most PCI adapters are just PCI->PCMCIA and then you slide a PCMCIA network adapter into it).

USB adapters are probably the way to go, just check out ebay , you'll find many on there for decently cheap (<$50USD per adapter). Also check out pricewatch for online stores.

If you don't care about speed, you can probably find some 1mbit/s oldstyle adapters for very cheap.

got a spare $69? linksys wireless usb adapter. Thats the one i'm using, works great.

ugh... I've had bad issues with USB wireless cards... low power and range sucks.

Additionally, before someone complains that ISA cards are ****e and shouldn't be used, remember that PCMCIA *is* ISA (16-bit ISA interface)... Cardbus is a 32-bit PCI interface, and there *are* many ISA/PCMCIA wireless 802.11a cards out there.

In any case, these can give you some cheap solutions if you just want to hook up 2 computers for the purpose of transferring files.

You can probably find PCI adapters that are not 802.11 for really cheap too if it must be PCI.
