Really in an in-car situation you're probably more concerned about brightness of the screen, not if it's DSTN or Active Matrix. You can have DSTN screens that are much brighter than Active Matrix screens, it's just that the viewing angles and crispness of image are normally not fantastic.
But if you can get this for less than $100, then it could be great for someone on a limited budget!![]()

the other problem is how well does it handle running vis and high-bandwidth MP3's? I've got an AMD k6/2 300 and it -chokes- when trying to play 192kbps mp3's under win98se

My P150 laptop can play 256kbit/s MP3s under w98se without issue... it must be your vis that's causing that problem.
