Sounds like a good idea. Do you have a list of some of the UK retailers?
It seems the only suppliers for the Jetway miniITX boards I've found are in the UK. Anyone know of any in the US? Pricewatch searching for 'jetway motherboard' reveals very little, and no ITX (minibook) boards. I think I want to get one to use in my car setup with my celeron 1200.

I actually found on in the US. www.bwi.com will sell them with a 5% educational discount. But they are like $135. So I'm selling all of my carputer stuff on e-bay and I'm going to get like an Asus A7N266 w/ an athlon xp 1700+ for like $90 total.
Well, you've been here long enough to know that the AMD chips are power hogs.
More power to ya... literally![]()
I'm not sure using an Atlhlon in-car would be such a good idea. I have an XP 2000+ as my home PC, and before I got A/C in the PC room I was having all kinds of problems with it overheating in the summer. I had to add a Volcano 9 running at full power along with 3 case fans just to have in run stable when the outside temp reached 30C, and we all know how hot it can get in the car. Just my 2 cents worth, but I'd recommend the Celery over the Athlon for in-car use. As for the cost comparison, here's a link to a socket 478 MB with onboard video, sound and LAN for $44, and here's a link to a Celeron 1700 for $48, so you're not saving any $$ going the Athlon route. Again, just my 2 cents worth...
That seems really strange. I believe the Athlon XP's are rated to work until they reach 90C. Oh well, I'll give it a shot and let you all know how it goes.
Better check that Jetway site again. They dropped the price to $105. I think I know what I'm buying. Mmmm.. DoC.![]()

What is the benefit of having DoC? They have limited writes, correct? I mean...unless you're going to put something in there that's only ever READ. Like....MP3s? You gonna put your mp3 collection on your DoC?![]()
Arn't you the funny man. I figure I can boot off the DoC without a swap file. I know, I know, no swap file is bad. But I wonder if imbedded even NEEDS a swap file. If it does I can always offload that to my MP3 Hard-Drive
