OK, my AllBrite (w/ 4 lamp inverter) just showed up. What's the latest on these? Did you guys get it going with all four lights?
I'm so glad I got you guys pioneering this for me. I am just learning about LCDs, controllers, inverters, and such (Thanks mostly to you guys and this forum).
I guess my next step is to talk to Dicon and get my controller.
ddogg, I'm with you so far about the 2.5 V. I just have one question. You measured 500K with the LCD off - Can the resistance change when the LCD is on?
Allenruble, are you using the Dicon LCD1024E also?

Ecar, some circuits do change resistance when electricity flows (like a light bulb), but I don't think it would in this circuit, it shouldn't have to.

Allen - That's too bad...I hope this allows you to move on to greener pastures!
Best of luck.

Has anyone thought of removing the backlight upgrade housing and installing it on another screen? I have some brand new LQ10D367s for which I have cables and controllers...
Has anyone attempted it or thought about trying it?
- Jeff
NO WAY! The NL8060BC26 is one of the best 10.4" screens you can get! SVGA with quick response and a high contrast ratio. I will keep it just where it is.
ddogg_777:
I understand what you're saying, but the differences in my LQ10D367 and the NEC Panel are small.
The only major difference would be the resolution, which is arguably a minimal, if any, advantage as the screen is only 10.4 in. On the Sharp, the contrast ratio is the same, response is 5 ms longer, viewing angle is horizontal - 5* less, vertical - 5* more and they're both 18 bit panels.
I will probably leave them alone, I was just thinking I might want to modify one of the brand new screens I have with working cables and controllers...

It might be rather difficult, the sharp lcds have a different housing than the NEC, If you're handy with a dremel you might get it to work. By the way, the allbrite backlight and filter increase the viewing angle to nearly 160 degrees left to right and 140 up down, I couldn't believe it. I could watch my dvds from nearly any angle, and that was with only two of the four bulbs connected.
I can't wait to try it out - I have to get a minute and make a cable to see how well it works...I'm surely going to use this in the car... there's no doubt. The brightness level and such is enough of a justification, but your info on the increased viewing angle makes it more tantilizing! I also like the housing they used to do the modification...it's gonna make my job easier when it comes time to mount it as they've given us several standoffs to which we can screw into.
Thanks for the info ddogg.

Have fun!
