    Sound card?

I remember talk of putting in a audigy souncard in the kiosk for better sound.

How does that work since you can't turn off onboard sound in the BIOS?

I was hoping to use a USB Soundcard (Creative MP3+) - any ideas on that?

    Thanks,

    Glt

(must be my day to post)

well, i have a bench seat in the front of my tundra, so i just utilized the space that is above the transmission casing. i am in the process of building an aluminum console that i can just drop the pc into, then put a bracket on top of the pc, that will bolt down through the mounting bracket of the kiosk and into the console. the bracket will cover up the nonessential area outside the viewable area of the screen.

From the new listing on ebay:

"InterVideo WinDVD 4 on Windows 2000 running 800 x 600 16 bit color has been tested and plays DVDs great!"

16 bit maybe? Seems the default was 24 bit.

Dvd's wont play on 2 screens (TV/Monitor) at the same time on my desktop. I'm sure this is copy protection. As I recall you set the primary display in display settings (xp). Possibly it was an option in the DVD player software.

Seems you have already done my first guess, setting to LCD only on the Chips tab in display settings.

This subject was covered in detail earlier in this topic.

    Happy browsing through 40 pages!

Falconey - I bet your have the CD-rom set to master. I put in a new IDE cable with 2 drive connectors on it. I had to set the CD-rom to slave to make it work. Double check that - it would stop the Kiosk from booting from HD or CD-rom.

I am using an old Sound Blaster ISA sound card in my kiosk (Found it in my misc old junk cabinet -- knew there was a reason I kept most of my old stuff around).

No problem using that card. Just configure your OS to use your alternate card. It will ignore the on-board card.

    ISA Wow-

Yes we do have an ISA slot - but no cut out to plug in things. How do you do that?

Sure wish I saved that 56K ISA modem.

I guess you can just choose between the 2 soundcards in XP.

    Thanks,

    GLT

P.S. The powerleap fan/heatsink REALLY gets in the way of the ISA slot.

ISA cards face the opposite way than PCI cards - the cutout is shared with the last PCI slot. This is known as a 'shared' PCI/ISA slot.

    Thanks none -

I guess I'm just too "young" to know that.

Or too "old" to remember it.

    Your guess.

    Bruce L and trdcpu

Bruce L-I did have it set up as the master, but I can't check it until I get home tonight.

trdcpu-can you give me some advice on how to create that bracket you were talking about. Also I was thinking about just fiberglassing my housing for the kiosk, but wouldn't mind going to an all alumninum interior. I can find a dash kit for most of my interior but how are you going to get the aluminum to mold to the shape of the kiosk. I know this is off topic so you can pm me on the answer, but it may help someone else if you just post it up. I'm really more interested in the bracket idea though. This is something I've really been thinking hard about, but can't seem to come up with the answer I'm looking for.

    Thanks in advance!
